Rather amusingly the first few times I played I had it on "novice mode". This adds destructible rocks *everywhere* so you can't get rushed. I didn't realise this and so went to rush my opponent and was surprised I couldn't! I then saw them building up a massive economy and teching up to make void ray hordes.
1 sneaky nydus worm later, and my roaches destroyed their entire base with ease :) Seems much quicker to do that and use your initial overlord to spot than to research both overlord upgrades and then load up and head out. And without the risk of units being killed in transit too. In a normal game its easier to just rush in, of course.

I don't really know a lot about Starcraft, but I do like Blizzard. I heard that Starcraft 2 was going to be released in 3 parts, each featuring one of the races. Is this true, and if so, are they finally all released yet? Thanks in advance.

Yes. You can play any race in multiplayer, but currently there's only the Terran Single Player Campaign.

I assume he's being sarcastic, as everyone seems to love being about Blizzard.
If not: they decided to release a long Terran campaign (roughly 3x as long as any of the race campaigns in SC1) and to wait with the Zerg and Protoss campaigns until the expansions. Same amounts of campaign levels, different organisation, plus the promise of two expansions (SC1 only got one).
None of the expansions are out yet, the first is due in late 2011, IIRC.

I absolutely loved the first SC game, and was a bit reserved to try the sequel due to various things I'd read and heard about. However I had the chance to play around with it recently with a free trial code, and I have very mixed opinions.
On the one hand, I love how it's not just SC with updated graphics, but some changes and omissions I just don't quite understand. The zerg in particular has become incredibly cumbersome to play and it was probably my favorite faction to play as in the first game. The whole feel of the zerg faction seems to have changed, which is unfortunate I think.
Some of the new units I'm not so big on either. The new zerg creep mechanic is brilliant, but I wish they had kept the sunken/spore colonies rather than the new movable defense units, which seem pretty useless. Also some of the Terran units don't seem so useful when considering alternatives (hellions).
The pace is INCREDIBLY frantic, and I don't know if that's good or not. I'm sure some people really like it, but it seemed a bit much to me. Probably the main reason I have trouble with it is there is not as much visual distinction between objects and units in the game, so when skirmishes occur it's just a big mess on the screen. I found it was quite hard to visually track the various units I had in the game and it was frustrating at times.
Certainly is an interesting game. I think with some tweaking all the issues I have with it could be resolved.

Now that's a perfectly logical sentence.

Right, because Blizzard has made only one game ever and, in fact, Blizzard is not a company, it is the game itself.
Koki on 23/2/2011 at 11:23
Right, it is only their second most widely known, most recognizable, most profitable and most market-changing product.

There's no World of Warcraft in Kokiland?

Spine crawlers have the same health/armour as sunken colonies, though they do a bit less damage. Sunkens did 40 explosive damage, while spines do 25 normal damage, meaning they deal more damage to light/small units like zerglings (25 instead of 20), but less damage vs armoured units. It's hard to exactly compare damage values between SC1 and SC2 though, since the attack cooldowns use a totally different system.
My bigger issue with the zerg is the spawn larvae mechanic, it's so tedious that I have no inclination to play zerg until they replace it with something better.
Hellions are a great unit for harassment, and a well-managed group of hellions can massacre huge armies of zealots or zerglings on their own with minimal losses. They're also quite good against hydralisks in larger numbers.
