I'm a little worried about the unit changes they are making as well. The Protoss Carrier unit was one of my favorites in the entire game and they seem to have completely axed it. :(
I just really liked having a huge swarm of little ships to attack people with. It was especially funny when they would all decide to attack one lone enemy unit at the same time. :cheeky:
Glad they kept the Seige tank, but they unfortunately seemed to have made it wimpier in comparison to some of the new units.

Remember that only a few of the units were shown in the video. There`d be many left to be seen in the finish product.

Yeah, the movie was just showcasing the new units and abilities, I'm quite sure the carriers are still there.
Speaking of big units like the carriers, it irks me a bit that nothing changed about the scale issue of the various units. I mean, the Terran cruisers are still just twice the size of siege tanks etc., and I would expect something like the Protoss mothership to be really huge, when it isn't. Then there are the collosi, which look out of place being like twice bigger than any other unit...

The thing that bugs me about the scale issues is that they don't need to be motherships and cruisers - they could just as easily be lage combat drones, or some sort of two-man aircraft and that would fit both their destructive powers and their scale.
Why the hell do they identify those poxy little models with the enormous warships seen in the cutscenes if they're not going to bother doing them justice in game?
They call the mothership's weapon a 'planet-cracker', yet from what I saw it took a few moments of concentrated fire just to kill marines. :nono:
Fucking planet-cracker my arse.

I'm not talking about global unit caps ("Supply"), I'm talking about arbitrary restrictions on specific types of unit.
The idea of those is from the tabletop game as well, actually.

It's supposed to represent the difficulty Chaos forces have in maintaining and building new tanks. (the tabletop unit limitations, that is) The Dark Mechanicus tend to spend more time farting around with giant space-ships and apocalyptic sun-killing weapons, rather than building tanks.
Still, even in tabletop a basic Chaos army can take up to three Predators (well, three general Heavy Support choices) on a normal force selection chart. I'm not entirely sure why DoW limited it to two, unless they really are that unbalanced.

Predators are pretty damn sweet - and I have no doubt that two Baneblades would just be soul-destroying.

Hmm, I'm not impressed with the screenshots and gameplay vids, but for some reason I feel the urge to replay the original...
Heh, me too :). I even downloaded the original StarCraft (
http://www.gamershell.com/download_4647.shtml) demo which has 4 unique missions.

Fresh from Blizzcon: (

The new briefing "screen" certainly looks great, and if Blizzard's promise that it will be very customizable in the map editor comes true, it opens a lot of possibilities for fanmade maps and campaigns.
I haven't played the single player campaign of SC in a long time, but it looks like Raynor is now voiced by a different actor? Not sure if I like it, to be honest.
Some of the previously shown units have already been scrapped, to make place for returning old units or for other reasons. Most notable is the Tempest, which was removed so the carrier can come back . Not so cool is the removal of the reaver though... But what's great is that even those scrapped units will still be available in the map editor :thumb:.
And in somewhat unrelated news, I heard that Antioch Chronicles might come back. :D
