Exceptional pajamas.

This guy is cool! You could make a tidy franchise as I'm sure he would appeal to kids, beats Bob the builder out. A ninja Thom would be awesome.

The cat is called Frederick and is a closeted homosexual with expensive drapes. Lose him.
Love the pyjamas though.

It's beginning to be a bit of a problem actually. I've been developing Thom on and off for so many years that any additional characters I come up with aren't going to have the same kind of "feel" and/or are going to seem rushed. That said though, in this instance the cat wasn't intended to be a major character, just a placeholder for this "thom sleeps over" image (or "thom is not afraid to sleep over" if i'm sticking to that theme).
The question is whether to keep developing the other characters (shades fly, and anything else i can come up with) or to just focus on Thom and not have other characters at all.
Fingernail: I want to make a story but part of it is having no fuckin clue how to write this stuff, or even whether to have much in the way of writing at all. I'm not a good enough illustrator to just have vast pictures carrying it all along, and i don't know enough yet about writing for kids to actually put any meaningful and not done-to-death story/dialogue in it. In short, I'm not good enough to make stories yet.
I did finally buy some watercolours and paper and palettes and brushes on ebay though so i'll have a crack at some real media colouring soon :o

1) Have other characters
2) Visually, the cat looks as well developed as Thom. Well, she's got a dog's nose but apart from that relax guy

Bob, it depends on whether you're happy with it but I think the "Thom is not afraid of..." series could go far on its own merits.
And yes, have other characters but essentially they can be sketchy because Thom is the star. They just need to have one or two specific attributes that is noticable in the panels, such as a shy character, or a cheeky character.

I think the cat actually looks remarkably more developed than Thom, despite the lopsided limbs and awkward tail. The ears work better, as do the spikes of hair on top. Thom is cool but he can look a bit like a fuzzy tennis ball with condoms hanging from each side. Not to worry, though, as that shit will work itself out if you keep drawing him.

I missed a lot of this thread originally, but I'm with the others that say your character is cute, and would buy a children's book with Thom. Although in America, you might want to call him Tom. Just ackward spelling it with an H over here.:D

Very few British people spell it Thom, just in case you thought it was common over here. More common, perhaps, but it still calls attention to itself.
