I think your drawings are great. :thumb: The one of thom wants socks and the space thom are my favourites.
I think that thom would make a wonderful children's character. The idea you have for him trying to wear clothes but not really needing them would make a good story I think. The thom wants socks drawing could work as your cover illustration and starting point.

And I'll have kids specially - just so I'm not that creepy guy hanging around the children's books section for no reason.
Holy shit, you can breed!?

I can't really see anything wrong with the Earth painting, I think it works pretty well as it is. I also disagree re: the proposed snout, I do think the current face shape looks just right,
but it also looks a little too familiar, like it's too similar to exisiting character(s). Might help if I could give an example, but I can't bring it to mind. Am I thinking of Calvin & Hobbes, maybe? I dunno, my memory fails me.
And I shall disagree a third time over the name, "Tom" (for it is spake thusly) is normal-sounding enough, and "Thom" will stealthily tattoo one small but useful language lesson onto young brains. But I'd go along with the other criticisms. :D
Lovely stuff O-Bob, and consistent too, which is great. The ears in the "ear scarf" pic are clearly problematic, not an easy thing to get looking right - for me, the problem is that his right ear appears to sprout from his neck and not from his ear'ole. But if it
didn't, it would look less like a scarf. :erm: Erm...
Sorry for violating your pup, OnionBob, but may I suggest:

yay for Artrage tracing images
Good work in resolving some ear-origin issues there piln, and i don't think you've violated him at all, that's very cute.
In terms of the muzzle issue, the simplification does seem to have the problem of regressing thom into dangerous territories of generic-ness - I'm trying to avoid it, but the calvin and hobbes problem is something that's been mentioned before. I love C+H but obviously don't want to rip it off.
and stitch: the globe definitely needs work, you're right. I think the biggest downfall is the really obvious photoshop filter clouds which are just rendered clouds distorted with the liquify filter. I did use a reference pic but I didn't trace it or anything, just had it open in another window, but I was getting frustrated with the kind of colouring you get in Open Canvas. In truth, I'm a little disappointed with that picture - it's not as epic as I wanted it to be due to serious limitations i have with my skill in colouring and composition. But it's all a matter of practice.
My next step is to get some waterproof inks and some watercolours and practice doing some of this stuff on real paper. Colouring is still my biggest downfall and once I find some time I'll be working hard on improving, and I think there's a certain
affect or tactility missing from digital painting that I would really like to achieve, despite the problematic lack of ctrl+z on paper and brushes.:eww:

I was telling this girl about Thom today (whe has kids)and wanted to know the web address. She raced home and logged on, called me and screamed "THAT IS THE MOST ADORABLE FUCKING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!". :thumb:
Also, she said her son and daughter both love him. Awesome awesome character.

That's exactly what I want to hear :thimb: Seriously when I have a whole story sketched out, I'll put it up on a website and see how it goes.

Are you doing requests? Cause for some reason I want to see Thom in a rowboat only there are no oars.

Always up for ideas and I'll keep that one in mind for sure, because I doodle a lot. :thumb:
