What the hell is FOSE?
I use the GFWL disabler and uninstall it now, but before that I played through the entire game without actually realizing GFWL was installed, since I never created an account/logged into the service/clicked on the "Live" button in the main menu. It's basically non-obtrusive.

Damn fucking right. Fortunately some clever son of god has done a workaround. If you don't want to play GTA4 online, then for gods sake get (
http://www.gtaforums.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=537) xliveless which removes the need to have GfWL and Rockstar social club running (and you can uninstall both). While you're at it, get (
http://gtahq.multiplayernetwork.net/file/906/) this mod which removes the legal and logo screens which you're forced to watch every time you boot the game.
Also, never pre-order a game. Ever. For the above reasons, I'd have definitely pirated GTA4 if I'd known it would ship with all the shit that it did.
Thank you very much for the links. :)
I have yet to test the game (too lazy to put the DVD into the drive), but it should work now, without the two garbage piles stenching away valuable clock cycles and RAM bytes during gameplay, as well as no more delay caused by the startup videos.

So, first you attack the Gamer Bill of Rights then you basically echo it.
Quote:
4. Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game.
6. Gamers shall have the right to expect that games won't install hidden drivers or other potentially harmful software without their express consent.
9. Gamers shall have the right to demand that a single-player game not force them to be connected to the Internet every time they wish to play.

Your retail game will install and work offline without any third party software in a Windows environment.
Your copy protection system will not go up my ass to do what it's supposed to do.
Make up your goddamned mind.
Also, you're seriously complaining about splash screens? 'Cuz that sounds like a whole load of fat whine in crysauce.

Thank god for "mostly" there, it sure saved my butt, didn't it?
And I kinda assumed if I take entire paragraph in bold people'll figure it out it's kind of a rant. Guess you didn't(In before "WELL SINCE YOU WROTE IT IT MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN SERIOUS DURRR").

re: mandatory kb/mouse support. good luck playing devil may cry 4 or street fighter 4.
re: steo. piracy is not an option. if a game has a shitty implementation that you disagree with, then play it all. protesting through piracy does no good at all.

I finished Metal Slug on the keyboard. Pad is better, but "better" is relative. M4A1 is better than AK-47, and both take out a man from at 200 meters. I mostly added this option because of FEAR 2/HAWX bullshit, though.

Do you know what "capitalism" is?

Protesting through piracy: having your cake and eating it too.

Impossible to take this list seriously as it includes programming frameworks in the list of things not to use.
Beyond that, meh. Heard it all too many times. Yeah, it sucks. But, given the number of PC 'gamers' who are actually flat out thieves, I figure it's karma for joining in a hobby dominated by freeloaders.
