Maggie... I'm wondering if its possible to get Jock's appartment key (by jumping over Tongs wall?) - the key being as far as I know the only other way to get in (besides via Maggie's) - and pick her off with a rifle round or GEP from Jock's window before even talking to her? Think I'll try (having to start over again to do it).
BTW when she turned up in versalife I spotted her from above. I was looking around & saw the green-crosshair type person - thought it was just a mechanic or something until I tested my new targeting eye. Then it was just like "Well, well, well..." *pulls out rifle*
Oh - and in Thief if you DO want to go around killing people blackjacking them is sooo much easier than backstabbing with the sword - in DX terms riot proding them VS batoning them. After you have BJed them you could throw them in a fire, water, hack with sword, etc. Usually only reserved for those who have messed with you badly.

I thought it a risky shot from Jock's apartment, but with a gep round, it would work.
I once did go into Tong's compund by simply using the door code that I knew from a previous game. Everything in the compound was shooting or slashing me all the way to Tong's lab.
In this case, it's probably easier to just do what the guy at the door to the compound asks, or, hit the police station first. Then Maggie's an easy target once you reach the Universal Constructor.

Take the back way to the roof and pick her off from the Sky Light.
Or, when the elevator doors open, move out and get the maid running at you, then back up and shoot her when she gets close. Nobody notices so you can take out Maggie quietly.

Cheers. Yep - I did notice the skylight and thought about that... but the idea of doing the shot from accross the street somehow appealed to me... I'll give it a go!

Talking of companions, I thought the way the MiB blew up was great, so, thinking it would be like having an extra LAM I tranqed one and have carried him throughout the entire game. (And no, they don't explode once they're unconscious)
He's the perfect man! Quiet, unassuming. Waits where he's told too and doesn't answer back

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifSometimes a pain to go back for him, and once I popped him down and a Commando hit him with a rocket (lucky I'd saved) but when JC joined with the thing you can see MiB waiting on the walkway for JC through the cutscene. Lying down of course, but you can't have everything.
Bout time they had a female skin however, as JC carting round some guy seems a bit suspect....

Okay, so I'm reviving an old topic but I have become obsessed with Deus Ex since buying it a few weeks ago and lust for any and all information I can get about it. :)
That being said, I took this topic as inspiration and replayed the training mission and took that brave soldier who agreed to be left unconscious with me on my journeys.
OUr greatest truimph was making it across the jumping training. After many failures, I managed to make it by tossing him across the way while in midair.
Unfortunately, during demolitions testing he met an unfortunate end at the hands of a rogue LAM.
Sadly, UNATCO never even recognized his accomplishments or tried to punish those who may or may not have been responsible for his death.
(P.s. I think the first time i played the training mission I actually managed to kill one of the guards behind the cage...but i couldn't recreate it the 2nd time round... hmmm, beginner's luck)

I went to the police station first. Therefore, Maggie wasn't in her apartment when I got there.
I did see her talking to Bob Page when I visted level 2 of Versalife. And next when I got down to the UC.
So instead of killing her, I ran around the UC with her chasing me, then hit her with a tranq dart.
Amazingly, she didn't drown while escaping through that long underwater tunnel as an Ai would have done in Thief.
So now, I have brought her along with me on all subsequent levels.
I've taken her back to the Luminous Path's compound to show to Tracer Tong, to the Lucky Money for drinks with the Dragon Heads, to Hell's Kitchen, to the ship, she was kind enough to wait for me near engineering while I ran to set my charges.
She's came with me to Stanton Dowd's estate, and is now with me in Paris, where we shall enjoy the Paris nightlife together with my old friend Dr Reyes.
She's really not a bad person at all. Never complains, nor gets in the way, unless I have to draw a weapon quickly while carrying her.
I think she's going to be with me for the rest of my life. Since I intend to once again go the Dark Ages route.
