Hi - Yes I got the three blue "smoke" + wood "thorn" withdrawal animations and the sound right away on shooting the moss, water AND when I dropped the dead body 1st time...
So I'm at a loss as to why it's not letting me collect the claw... something's just not right
Edit - ok I found someones savegame on fileplanet starting at the well entrance to pagan area so loaded that up (3rd restart attempt at this issue)- went straight to shaman got details of ritual 1st (in case) then read the poster about other guy that died from not doing it (again to fulfill any code conditions) - then did blood 1st, water then moss this time - still got the animations and sound - claw is open again BUT I STILL CANT PICK IT UP!!!!! WTF IS GOING ON..?

Just off the top of my head. Are you using a USB device? Mouse, gamepad, Keyboard? These sometimes don't work well with the THIEF series.

hi - re:USB - yes I am, but it's configured so there are no movement or other issues.
I think this goes even further - I used another DL'd save to go to mission 4 and I'm in the zombie boat...and now I can't pick up the piece of paper at the bottom level just before the other ladder to get out. It's "white glinting" just as the claw did so I can only assume it's the info I'm after.
Using someone elses' save has meant I've had to do some backtracking for things missed.
If this is a bug with mission critical items then I'm screwed for the whole game.

Can you still frob other things when they are highlighted (either in the original harsh blue or in e.g. JohnP's subtle copper)?

Hi - thanks for all the replies - sorted it - uninstalled/ re-installed and thankfully saved games worked ok (often they don't which is why I didn't try it before) and YAY! one claw picked up.
As to last reply, yes ALL other stuff still "frobbed" with both the custom colour (with custom texture installed) AND the blue normal one (when custom was removed) - loot, bodies, arrows, doors the lot was only the claw and the paper on the boat that wouldn't pick up.
