I still think he should have just put his balls right on the desk and called it Cameronite.

UNOBTAINIUM.
Its like...you want to OBTAIN it, but you are UNABLE to do so.
I want what James Cameron is smoking please.
In 1 v. 100, The question of what mineral was on Pandora came up, it was between that, Adamantium, and some other mineral.
I got that one wrong because I figured James Cameron Couldn't possibly be so stupid as to name it Unobtanium. Apparently he is.
edit for clarification: I get that its used as a joke in engineering circles. That doesn't make it sound any less dumb in a movie.

Would have loved this.
Just saw the movie and I enjoyed it more than I was expecting to. For the first 15 minutes I was looking for crummy bits but by the end I was cheering inside when the Navi won. There was never any doubt but it didn't matter because the story, while simple, wasn't eye-rollingly bad or poorly acted. General Evil was ridiculously unrealistic but I don't care, it was a good movie.
As for the 3d, I think it definitely enhanced the experience but until 3d is refined I don't want it to be the norm. There are still too many ViewMaster remnants, especially in the out of focus parts of scenes, for me to accept it unquestioningly.

I just saw this film for the second time, first time was at a regular cinema in Real3D or whatever it's called, the second time was in IMAX 3D. Loved the massive screen, but the 3D was a little less comfortable on my eyes at IMAX. Also a word of warning to those contemplating seeing it at IMAX, I didn't realise this, but the IMAX version actually includes an extremely annoying three year old girl seated directly behind you at all times.
I enjoyed the film even more the second time, I'm not head over heels in love with it as it is just a dumb blockbuster after all, but god damn it's the prettiest film I have seen in a long time and there's certainly never a boring moment.

I have to say that most of what I've been reading about Avatar makes me more curious. The footage I've seen on TV didn't interest me all that much, mainly because I thought that the art direction looked pretty kitschy, but by and large people are saying that Cameron still does great, spectacular entertainment.

So who would win in a fight between the District 9 mech suit and the avatar mech suit?

Clearly the District 9 suit - the glass shielding of the other one isn't that robust. :p

Yes. Not much more than that, but as far as entertaining spectacles go... 100%
Jackablade on 11/1/2010 at 22:18
I can agree with that.
