In most parts of DX my cursor moves smoothly and quickly, but once I've hacked into a security panel to shut off cameras, it becomes very slow and jerky. Is this supposed to happen and is it dependent on hack skills or is the info overloading my Voodoo 3 card (since the cameras are zoomable and turnable in realtime)? Or is this just a bug?

It's either a bug or your video card can't handle the amount of info in the security screens. Have you got the latest (SP or MP) patch? There are reports that this cures this jerkiness. I still get it though but to a much lesser extent.

Is there a recent SP patch that will allow using current save games? I don't want to use the MP ratch yet.

I had the same problem. I didn't find it a problem though.

Same problem with me. I think the issue may be that it has to render the 3-D scenes for the cameras within a 2-D rendered scene of the computer terminal and it confuses my Video card. It's not really that big an problem though, I wouldn't worry about it.

I do worry about it because of the time pressure; it eats up all the time when shutting down 3 cameras.Guess I have to live with it.

Use the keyboard shortcuts; it's faster than mousing anyway. Hold down Alt and press the underlined character.

There are MP and SP versions of the latest patch. I downloaded the SP version from 3dfiles.com and it didn't screw up my save games at all. If you want to be safe just copy the entire Saves directory to somewhere else then if it does mess up your version of Deus Ex you can always reinstall - it shouldn't harm it anyway. The SP patch is 4.6MB and is available from the following URL:

or you could try fileplanet.com or something like that. Hope that solves your problem.

I think it only happens if you have detail textures on. Remember it happening when game was first released.
