I've always made sure to kill the ringer mechanic at Everett's helipad, and have Jock disable the bomb. However, I've never had the heart to play through all the rest of the game without disabling the bomb, and let Jock get blown up. So now I've got to know: what happens, and when does the bomb go off? I'm assuming it's not until Area 51 (i.e., only when you don't need him to get around any more).
Anyone want to tell me about it?
Thanks.

This is what happens:
<BLOCKQUOTE><FONT size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, sans-serif">Spoiler:</font><DIV STYLE="background-color:#000080"><FONT color="#000080">It happens after he drops you off at Area 51 and warns you about the sniper in the tower. I don't remember exactly what he says when he's taking off but something about having a little trouble. Then BOOM! Jock is no more. Kinda sad.

he says (and this is by memory only):
"Here we are, JC. I'll be heading back to Vandenberg, now. This rattling is getting worse and wor - what the? Is this a bo - KABLOOIE"
then everett beeps in:
"Sorry, JC. We just revealed a mechanic that was an MJ12 spy, and didn't have time to warn you....talk talk talk"
i felt that everett had something to do with it, so i didn't pick his ending.
it happened to me on my first game and i was sooooo sad. which brings up another question: Will Jock be alive in Deus Ex 2?

Depends. Maybe they won't reuse many characters.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I didn't want to play all the way through Vandenberg, the Ocean Lab, and Area 51 just to watch Jock die, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing some massive alternate ending.

i just thought of something.. how come everett lets jock know where the heli pad on top of his place is buts doesn't let you know????

Probably because Jock isn't wired directly into a psychopathic AI, UNATCO, Page, and anyone else that might care to take a gander through your infolink...

I guess that's kind of the same situation with Alex. You have to work your butt off to meet Tong, and Alex talks with him a few times over the net and gets invited to his compound.
