Hey Guys. Anyone ever tried to replace the default texture for Jorge ? Is this coded into the game engine or could you simply replace the texture file with one with the same parameters and name but with a different design ?

I'm pretty sure it's hardcoded in the engine, but why would you want to change it anyway?

While I appreciate you need something bright and garish so it stands out, i think the standard Jorge texture is just too much of an insult to my eyesight. Maybe a nice orange, not too bright, i hate neon or phosphorescent colors. That's it really. So I'm configuring The GUI to be dark and have a 'Stealth' Color-set. Lots of blacks, greys, olive colors. Drab as possible but still legible with a few exceptions so I can see errors. Bright colors hurt my eyes :( Then i get sore heads and start grinding my teeth. 0_0

So apply the desired texture to the brush. Jorge really is only to quickly show you any mistakes / omissions in texturing, and perhaps to help with alignment (though I have never found it necessary for that). I never see Jorge since I always texture as I build.

In the 15 years Thief has been out, I think this is the first time anyone has complained that Jorge--a texture deliberately designed to be ugly--is too ugly. Congratulations GarrettTwoZeroOneFour, you're making history.
So here's a wacky thought: Instead of screwing up all of DromEd's default settings, just turn down the brightness and contrast on your monitor. Most video card managers even let you turn down the color saturation.

Modern monitors are crazily bright. I have mine at 10% and it's still fairly bright.
I'm pretty sure Jorge is hard-coded. But you should never normally be seeing it anyway - if you are seeing Jorge, it means you forgot to put a texture on something.

You'll get used to it after a while.

I'm sure i will adapt in time but i want a Stealth theme and while I can texture as i go the Jorge Texture still appears on my Texture Window. I might just decompile/recompile DromEd and see if i can tweak the hell out of it. Having said that time and energy are lacking as always. Has anyone thought of a mod to add Themes to the UI ? Regarding the Contrast and Brightness they are both turned down to minimum at all times anyway. Your right monitors are ridiculous bright these days. Sore on the eyes if you work on them all day. Might get a filter screen to help reduce the brightness. I do seem too be a bit of a fussy pants and want near perfection and have nearly unrealistic expectations I think if you don't challenge a community with new ideas though then they can become stale and set in their ways. I don't know if i have the expertise to do this but i might try it out. I'm thinking it will be trying to locate the specific bit of code that will prove the problem.

If only that predilection extended to your spelling.

:nono: Hacking the code is not wise.
