Please
read the complaints, then. It's explained in detail. If you still don't understand it, then there will never be an understanding. Comments like yours really don't help anybody. Please try something more informative, or just say you liked it and leave it at that. If someone attacks you for it, consider them a troll and ignore them.

You have to read the line in it's context. I do know what the complaints are, but I don't think it's anything to complain about. TDS looks good, but different. I also like the original Thief look (maybe even more).

Sorry to be a jerk, but I do find that those comments claiming to not understand come from people who
do understand and aren't saying what they really mean.

Looks to me like you have a couple problems and want to see them fixed. Now take a hundred people with a couple of problems they'd like to see fixed. You will get a few concerns that are unique to an individual, and you will see a bunch of concerns that most agree on. This is what is happening.

See? You agree more than it shames you to admit. Complaining, followed by action, gets things changed. Protests, booing at games, picketing, writing letters to newspapers and politicians, etc., followed by a proactive response gets things changed. If the change turns out to be a bad move, then we are also supposed to learn from our mistakes, and not repeat history. We just want integrity, and for the companies to not sell-out as much as they do. And from my side of the fence, comments like yours
are complaints, and I wish they were more fleshed out so I can try to see the color of the grass on your side of this fence.
Peace.

God damn, jtr7, saying "I don't know why people do X" is a common figure of speech. Let's not get up in arms about every single little comment.
Try putting yourself in the shoes of someone on TTLG who is passionate about both DX2 and T3. If you didn't learn to let comments pass 19 times out of 20, you'd spend half your life fighting on the internet ... :(

Boomerang!:D
And....
Exactly!
That's why I challenged and got confirmation before making my final point.
Saying "I don't understand why X..." will usually be translated as "Help me understand why X...," whether that's correct or not. And I'm on a campaign (experimental, really) to preemptively strike before someone else predictably says "Wha--?!! Ur dum." I'd like to see a different approach, instead of the guaranteed type of posts that happen in these threads ad nauseum. For instance, shouting and cursing are a good way to lose credibility if the poster wants to change someone's opinion of a topic, if it's not done well. Your post made good points I could work with. For my own sanity, I'm trying to kill the flame wars before they drag on too long, because they are inevitable. I know I'm trigger-happy, lately. I'm also enjoying the relative lack of flaming in the Thief 4 thread, very much. Anyway, I'm much more interested in "X" than the lack of understanding figure of speech thing.
Say! Why are my rants more shocking than others? Heh heh heh. Is it like hearing a woman rip a thunderous fart? WHOA!
It's a cathartic release, but I've found the thread returns to a peaceful state after a couple of "What the Hell Was That?" posts. :cheeky:

jtr7 seems to be spamming the threads with vengeance! He would fight to death with anyone saying anything good about TDS, often with vague and long paragraphs which are totally unrelated to the actual context...man, if you don’t like TDS, leave these threads. You are not helping anybody. Its really not difficult to understand there are people who like can like TDS *despite* complaints, just like how you seem to like T1-2 even when it clearly has hundred problems. You think that someone asking "can I strafe like T1-2 in TDS?" is a sign that they dislike the game?
Beleg Cúthalion on 12/4/2008 at 07:10
It's not that jtr7 primarily doesn't like TDS and wants everybody to know, but he is interested in knowing the details of every game instead of jumping to conclusions based on superficial impressions. TDS had some flaws and the guys who notice things like that will always be after them and complain. However, it is somehow at least useful to know about these flaws.
I liked TDS and I'll gladly offer you my hand in our struggle against...no...wait. :weird: Anyway, as long as I see any anchorless arguments against TDS I feel the need to intervene, but otherwise the discussion is - as I said somewhere else - a too unforgiving one. I'd rather play it again.
jtr7 on 12/4/2008 at 07:29
I appreciate your support, Beleg. I'm hoping I can count on those in your position who are most familiar with TDS on a technical side than I am right now. Don't worry, some of the crap I say comes from finding so much absurdity in life, and your first sentence pleases me. I don't hate TDS, but I feel a sick compulsion to trout-slap those who say I do, because they aren't paying attention. :thumb:

I think the "I finished and liked T3 / Oh no you didn't!" threads just supplanted the "Will there be a Thief 4?" threads as the most idiosyncratic redundancy here at ttlg.
Thank heavens I've already retired from this argument.
jtr7 on 12/4/2008 at 07:41
It surpassed it a couple of years ago.:o
And congratulations on your retirement!
