Hi there...
Strangely enough when I first got DX (and even before it came out wtith the demo(s)) I just couldn't do the training exercise without being spotted - although I did manage to dash out the room before the NPC hit the alarm once :) :p
After finishing the game I went back and did the training again for a laugh and was amased how easy it was to sneak past everyone...
Point being stick with it... its a great game which 'almost' completely lets you play it the way you want to and not how the designer thought you should - like Thief it rewards thinking and covert approaches to problems but has the advantage of being able to 'off' the opposition if you prefer the more direct approach

I just got to the point where Paul tells me to go to the NFC HQ and get some stuff for him. Is something really bad going to happend at this point? Are a bunch of UNATCO troops or those guys in black going to ambush me when I get to Paul apartment?

It's a totally different game
You're telling him he should stop comparing Deus Ex to thief, and than you say exactly the same thing yourself??? :)
As to comparing how fun it is to thief, that's a perfectly legitimate camparison. Just because Deus Ex is different to Quake, doesn't mean you can't say Quake is more fun than Deus Ex ... I mean, Deus Ex is better than Quake ... oh shit :p

I just got captured Majestic 12 and there are these weird alien birds in the lab. Why do they attack me and not the guards? I mean who knows what little alien birds are thinking. Wouldn't they hate their masters as much as they hate some guy who they just saw?

those little scaly bastards realy don't care, man. it's like they got hate in their blood. i heard somewhere that greasels actually make nice little pets in the real world, but they start to spit acid at adolescence and get quite nasty. there are about 100 greasel related deaths each year. weirdly enough, when they mature totally (which takes a while. one greasel year is 25 human years), they are quite nice, but, when they turn 50 (or, 1250) they spontaneasly combust, which results in their dormant acid sacs (which contain gallons of unused acid) spreading acid over anyone unfourtunate enough to be around. ever wonder how cleopatra REALLY died? the egyptian word for greasel is "adder". apparently, for their anniversary, her husband got her (as is customary in egypt on the 10th year of marriage) a 49 year old greasel....BAAAAAAD idea....
anywho, the point of my story is that they probably are studying adolescent greasels, in an effort to quell this harsh anger. aren't the MJ12 scientists so nice?

Im stuck in Hong Kong airport now. I craweld through the entire ventelation system, but there's no ladder to get up to the control station.

I did the exact same thing the first and second time I played DX :p , I didn't find a ladder either. I'm not sure where but you find a key to the door eventually.

Thanks for the advice guys, but I already figured it out. In anger I took out my pistol and started shooting lockers when I figured out the could be blown open. I found Hong Konq intresting. I must have payed that Australian girl 100 credits worth of beer and she's still not drunk. Had a bit of a hard time finding that Ching womans (Whatever her name is) apartment. I listened to her lies and shot her and her maid. They where probably up to no good anyway since they had ammo on them, and there was a secret mj12 lab under their house. Anyways thats as far as I got. Will play more later.

I was so tired the first time I encountered Maggie Chow, I actually believed her, even when I saw her computer account (MChow) in the MJ12 computer system in one of her rooms. :o
