Went to look at Deus Ex's website, just to see what the game was about. Couldn't figure much out from simply looking at their webpage, so I went to the gamespot review. From what they said there, it looked like the game sucked, but since they said the storyline borrowed from my favorite author, Robert Anton Wilson, I figured I'd give it a try. Here's what I thought.
Played the training mission, and I have two words: IT SUCKED.
Played the first mission, and I have two words: IT ROCKED!!!!
Aside from possibly the QFG games, this game is already my favorite RPG. Hopefully the full game will be at least good enough to live up to the demo. And I thought Blizzard and Epic made quality games....
Anyways, as far as what's wrong with the training mission: A. Stealth part is too confusing. B. Shooting range makes it kinda unclear what you're trying to do - also, you should be able to get more than one target on each side, and rather than just breaking they should show where the bullet hit.
Other than that, great game. I'll pick up a copy when I can spare the cash.

but it's called a plasma rifle (it fires plasma, hence the name), it takes up 8 spaces in your inventory and it is indeed the most useless piece of &%§%&)"§=/($)" in the game - you can have more fun with a simple cardboard box if you know how

Yes, Deus Ex is a great game, my pick for Game of the Year 2000.
Go get it!
And pickup Thief, Thief II, and System Shock 2 as well, if you want some Immersive role-playing experiences. (unless you already have all those games)

In the mirrors of the many judgements, my hands are the color of blood. I am a part of the evil that exists in the world and in Shadow. I sometime fancy myself an evil which exists to oppose other evils. And on that Great Day of which prophets speak but in which they do not truly believe, on that day when the world is completely cleansed of evil, then I, too, shall go down into darkness, swallowing curses. Until that time, I shall not wash my hands nor let them hang useless.
