Having had the Thief games lying around unplayed for ages (years!) I've recently started playing Thief on PC and Thief:DS on Xbox.
I was slightly wary of Deadly Shadows after playing DX:IW (which I liked but found very annoying), but luckily it seems better- except for one thing. Why did anyone think it was a good idea for a game best played in the dark to have that bright purple screen?

You're playing them simultaneously?
The major advantage (and that's a relative term) to the PC version of TDS is that you can tweak it to remove many of the annoying color and interface aspects. Any chance you can dump the Xbox version and pick up a cheap PC copy?

Hope you enjoy Thief. That's pretty much my favorite game of all time.
I have Thief Deadly Shadows on both Xbox and PC, and I have to say that I've been enjoying it on the Xbox. I enjoyed it on the PC as well, and I definitely have some issues with the Xbox interface and color choices, but still, it is a superior Xbox game.

Not really, it belongs to my boyfriend. In fact I think I bought all three for him, but he never got past the first few levels of the first two.
Does the PC version have similar problems to DX:IW?
And I'm playing them both because on Xbox I've just finished Fahrenheit and on PC System Shock is scaring me into hiding somewhere safe (and crashing frequently )so I needed something else to play.

You mean how the ambience is mostly purple? I think they were going for some stylised look, but it turned out badly IMO. The original Thief 1 and 2 look best in terms of atmosphere, if you ignore the difference in graphic quality.

Doesn't the xbox version have an uncureable difficulty level bug thing though, since it can't really be patched?

That's right. No matter on what difficulty level you play the Xbox version, it's always easy :laff:

I got both XBox and PC versions. Yep the PC version is better, XBox still has great graphics for those that can't afford a nice PC.

Actually it's always normal, but not quite. If you choose, easy, normal, hard or expert, the AI settings (eg. visual acuity, reaction times, etc) default to Normal every time you save or cross a load zone, but the mission objectives actually stay what they should be.
