I actually liked Garret's voice in the first game, one of the best voice-overs I've heard so far in a game. I like that Stephen Russell is in the other two.

(Stephen Russell, I think). I never noticed any major difference.
The main thing I noticed in the short time I played this game, was that Garrett's spoken parts in the Briefings were noticably rushed. Sometimes, in fact, he spoke so fast that is became amusing.
I couldn't figure out why! Were they trying to save hard disk space or something?

How exactly would you do that? There is no choicem because you can only play them in a linear fashion. That you have to run there to start it doesn't really change it. That you can postpone a mission as long as you want, by useless circling through the streets, also don't change this, because you still can only play one after the other, exactly in the order, the developers decided it. No choice, sorry.
Man I can't take anything you say seriously, because you obviously try something one way and assume it is the only way, without bothering to try and see otherwise.
There are some missions that are optional. I know for a fact because my brother totally missed out on going into the Abysmal Gale, before it left. (He re-loaded off a previous save to go through it)
And I know at one point I had the choice to go into one mission before another, but I can't remember where. I just remember highlighting keeper glyphs in 2 different places, and making the choice.

You're required to do Abysmal Gale. There are no optional missions. You can't get to overlook mansion to get the book without having done the gale to tell you to go to the mansion... I've tried.
As for the choice you spoke of, you're just chosing which of two to do first. There are two pairs like that. The Hammers or the Pagans and the Kurshok or the Gale & Overlook. In a sense they're not linear simply because at two points you get a choice but at the same time, they really are linear because you can't do anything else until they are completed and you must do one after the other no matter which you start with. You can't do just the pagans and not the hammers then move on to overlook then to the museum then back to the kurshok... you're still pushed along a line which loops back on itself twice.

The concept is there though, and that's what I was defending. I like the idea of being able to choose what you want to do next.
As for the pairs - you get to choose, it gives the illusion of choice, as if your choices might affect the path of the game. Games fool us all the time with the illusion of choice, its an art of good storytelling in a game. It doesn't matter that there wasn't a huge choice - at the time, it felt like it, and that's what matters.

Yeah, choosing which end of the "city" to run to next was fun. And then remembering that you have to run to some other end to buy the water arrows after you went to every corner of the map trying to remember which fences buy art. And god help you if you went through one of the inevitable three loading zones with guards at your heels, because they'd still be there exactly where you left them twenty minutes earlier. In fact, their swords might even still be in full-swing. And of course, like most other loading-zone dumping spots in the game, you're in full light and looking around like a jackass.

Ok, there has been some complications regarding my Thief 3 game... nothing I want to discuss more thouroughly, but I do have a question:
Is there any difference between the CD and DVD - Rom versions of the game? (Extra levels or things like that)
Awaiting response...

@GBM - Yeah it was excecuted poorly, but it was a step in the right direction IMO. I always wanted to be able to do stuff "like" that, in a Thief game, and that took me closer to that dream, even if it had annoying parts about it.

No, there is none.

Okay so Ive been playing the Thief series in reverse - TDS first , just finished TMA a month ago and now Im on the Thieves guild mission of TDP . Its really one of the best game series ever - Good story and gameplay , excellent atmosphere and sound , nice cuts scenes and some very good voice acting. What more could you ask for from a game?
On TDS : I wouldn't call it a failure or a rubbish game after all it introduced me to the series and made me a hardcore Thief fan . I don't think it ruined the previous 2 games for me cos i like them both.
I dont really miss the rope arrows . I don't use them much anyways and the gloves r good enough to get me wherever I want/
Loot Glint : Precious stones and metals to shine and sparkle unless Im mistaken.
Arrow trails : They probably introduced it so that you get a better idea of the way arrows fly and where they have gone . Unlike in the earlier two games the graphics and shadows make it harder to see the arrows . An option to turn it off would be nice though.
The City : Yes guards remain in the same position after crossing a loading zone , its not fun. Loading zones , smaller levels , okay thats bad too but not something that ruins the game entirely . Plus roaming the city allows you to have some fun and pick up some extra cash.
The Shops and Fences : The Mechanists havn't invented computers yet. Garrett doesn't have access to ebay . He has to leavehis house to buy and sell things.
Physics : I agree the physics and "body awareness" is a bit crappy but so what ? It doesn't make the game unplayable , just makes certain bits a little annoying.
