I needed to post my thoughts on this mission...GREAT! SUPERB! AMAZING! TRANSCENDENT! F*&$ING FANTASTIC! I was up till 7 in the morning playing this beast of a level and it's definitely one of the best out there!
Those machinists are TOUGH. More than once I thought I was safely crouched behind a corner and then WHAM! Cut up from behind. And I really felt like I was a thief, crawling along the ledges above the town, breaking into buildings. I hope Thorin will make a follow-up mission one day...this was :::consults thesaurus for more adjectives::: TERRIFIC!
My only problem was that I was getting a tad too emotional...In other words, I was getting PISSED at those metal-headed bastards. So it was a good thing there isn't a 'no-kill' objective. (I was playing on 'Hurt Me' and it DID)
But anyway, I completed the mission and found 3 secrets...Hopefully someone can help me with the other 2 so I can play it again (this time with a hold on my temper, and more respect for my enemies detection abilities).
The secrets I found are
the sword in the apartment, the Warehouse B secret you find by shooting a broad arrow, and the secret passage to get Karras' diary.
And if you haven't played this mission yet, PLAY IT!

Is this the one with those
fancy stairs that go up and down?
I can't remember! :tsktsk: As for Thorin, he left us and ran away. Jason now hosts his site, found here... (

missing secrets:
One is more of an Easter Egg than a secret and it's quite hard to get to. There's a square right outside the spot where you start. You need to get up onto the west wall (usually done by box stacking but I think someone got up there another way) and look for a little lever on the south wall.
The last secret is in the room behind the North Gate. Check the pillars for a lever.
:)

Thanks NW! I'd have to replay to find that Easter Egg anyway, since I smashed every barrel and crate looking for stuff :cheeky: .
Sluggs- It's the one where you have to destroy the machine that peels away flesh to turn one into a mechanist. I think it employs the 'extra-difficult' modification on "Hurt Me" because those guys are really tough to sneak around. You can enter an underground cave system patrolled by mechs
via a sliding crypt in the cemetary
. Two huge mechs guard either side of the room with Karras' diary. It's really a marvel to play.
Well, hopefully Thorin will read this and get bitten by the Dromed bug again. He's too good to stop!

Hi altogether,
I like this mission too, indeed very tough AI in "hurt me" level. Fun to play, but where is the diary? I reached the room through the secret passage guarded by the 2 Mechs. But WTF ist the diary?? At the wall is a somewhat steal door. Could it be opened? There is an elevator here I already used, coming out at a small building in the garden where the beasts are kept. Pushed a red button near the door, nothing seems to alter at all.
Can someone help, please. Something known about a walkthrough?
Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum! :)
I don't believe there's a walkthrough for this mission. In the underground room with the big elevator
there's a button in a hole in the pillar nearest to the big pile of boxes in one corner. It opens a metal door near the elevator. Head in there and have a look around the small office for a book you can click on.
Thanks Nightwalker. That will do! I found a older thread in this forum by now
too which should answer most all questions. You helped there quite often.
Thanks again!

It's too bad Thorin is no longer around to see that people are still discovering his missions and enjoying them. :(

I've seen him popping in now and then but not very often.
