As far as I know, the menu and while reading certain books or scrolls while playing Thief 2 are always in 640×480 resolution. I have an ATI Radeon 9800pro video card and playing the game in 1600×1200 mode. How can I set the main menu settings from 640×480 to 1600×1200? Because I really don't like it when pausing the game or when beginning to read a papyrus, as it changes the resolution automatically giving the annoying delay :( . If anyone has a solution to that, let me know :D

That's one of those questions that comes up once in awhile. I cann't find the last instance I know of, which was fairly recent, but here's an example, though:

Also, doesn't it change bit-depth, too? That certainly causes a delay.

Hmm, it seems like if there is a Windows command or a software that practically prevents the Thief 2 Interface from changing the resolution to 640×480, such as force_resolution change for example, so that the Thief 2 menu will show as the resolution desired by the user, such as I wanted the menu to look like 1600×1200, instead of 640×480. I wonder what software can actually do that :erg:

Either option will require a Thief2.exe patched to 1.18 with the copy protection removed.
Okay let's see. I have downloaded Xvi32 for the hex-editing, I followed the instructions listed on your post, I typed 27820C on the Goto thing with the option hexdecimal bubbled in, it was replaced with $27820C as soon as I pressed Ok. I have been directed to 2781FC, and did not found 8002 E001. The Thief2.exe that I got is from the Thief 1 & 2 bundle Plantinum Collection that I bought a few years back. Does that really have copy-protection at any case?

No idea. The size (not size on disk) of my .exe is 2,662,445 bytes. If yours is different, you'll probably have to find the location of the menu resolution yourself.
Try doing a search and replace for all occurrences of 8002 E001 in the .exe, or if that causes immediate crashes, replace them one by one. There shouldn't be too many. Once you've figured out which one it is, just change that one.

My exe file size is 2,662,400 bytes, which I manage to retrieve in the file properties window.

or Timeslip's ddfix which will render the menu and books with hardware acceleration at whatever resolution you specify.
Okay I tried that a few hours ago with 1600×1200 selected and it did a few of the bad changes:
1) Fog option "On/Off" text isn't showing up
2) Didn't allow me to enable the Weather Effects
3) From the Options for resolution, ranging from 400×300×16.. etc. to max 1600×1200×32 was jot down to 800×600×32 as a new max for gameplay
4) The briefing movies kinda lag a lot when it's playing in that screen size :bored:
5) And just by restoring the settings, by removing the patch directly from the software, the errors I listed from 1-4 remained ×_×, which forced me to reinstall the game

Thanks for the suggestion but I guess that will be complicated  I'll get to that tomorrow :bored: :D
