Kinda touchy, aren't they. - by Elentari

Well, I now have proof positive that the Hammerites are completely mad. Or, at the very least a little paranoid.
Decided to play a little TG tonight, and randomly picked "Undercover" to run through. Made it to the gate, after poking around the streets (not much there to see that I saw), presented my credentials and walked in. Upon entering, I glanced around, resisted the urge to lift the gold hammer there right off (I can get that later, after all), turned around and saw. . . a switch! *coughs* So I toggled it. It was just the switch to the gate I'd just come through. . .and they totally freaked out. Started screaming about me being a thief, (honestly, when did I ever. . . ?! :laff: ) And proceeded to chase me back out the gate, through the streets and way to the back at the bottom of the bridge.
For flipping a switch. Uh. . .a little paranoid are we? Don't think your novices have a little curiosity in them? Can't even shut the gate when they come in? What *have* you to hide in this place? Hmmmmmm? :weird:
I have decided that the Hammerites - not just Karras - are utterly insane. Silly boys. Maybe thats what they get when they don't play nice. ;)
And there's my pointless post of the week. I still cannot decide if I prefer the Hammers or the Pagans. Cruel and paranoid, or evil and paranoid. I think Garrett had it in the right going solo if those were his only choices. Although, I don't suppose the Keepers are all *that* bad. They're just. . .a little to wrapped up in their own studies and too complacent about *doing* things. Lazybones.

why do you think the hammerites lost followers? It's cos they kept smacking all the novices in the head with their hammers until there were none left! :laff:

Yeah, not much. Except for easy access to the rooftops, where you can choose from several different entry points.

That happened to me when I first played Undercover Elentari. I felt a bit intimidated that they killed me just for slipping a damn switch! I think it's also to do with the Hammerites' ego-manical fundamentalism and fanaticism. :p

Yeah, I've heard that, but try as I might. . .I could not get up there!! I tried for nearly fifteen minutes. Jumping on that
door frame
from various angles, I even tried hopping on the healing potion bottles, though that worked about as well as stomping on a piece of paper. lol I couldn't seem to get *any* sort of purchase to mantle up at all. He just kept hopping around like he was playing at being a frog. Either that or he'd go too far under and hit his head on the top.
So that left me with the front gate.
*laughs at nicked* You've got that right. . .and why so many members gravitated over to the Mechanist order. I'm sure the Mechanists were so much more forgiving about that sort of thing. Well, that and the Mechs actually allowed women in and the crazy Hammers don't.
I just find that funny. I mean, killing their novices over flipping a switch?! Poor novices! It is rather strange. I've played this mission three or four times and thats the first time they've gone after me for no reason. Apart from odd little 'glitches'. IE, I was standing next to those two guys near the alter, and alt-tabbed out of the window briefly, and when I alt-tabbed back in they started screaming and killing me. :weird: At least that one I can see that somehow I triggered something by accident as the window reoriented itself. Probably just bumped into one, though. Tried to repeat it after I reloaded and nothing.

Are you saying that you stopped playing Thief for a few seconds and cannot honestly tell why they beat you up? It's kind of obvious to me. :ebil:

They didn't do anything to me. The hammerite just inside didn't care. He just stood there staring at me and did the P.B.S. (please don't ask me what this is)

what is P.B.S.? :cheeky:

I dunno, personally I think the "What does this button do" crowd usually needs to get what's coming to them.
Like the joke: What were Christa McAuliffe's last words?
