CCCToad : I've always wondered if the Wiimote suckiness was due to bad design and physical limitations or because of an unwritten requirement to please the couch potato crowd.
Its not an either/or. Some games suck because of hardware limitations, and others suck because of that unwritten requirement. Of course, most Wii games just suck because they are games that nobody really gives a crap about. Licensed Barbie games and whatnot.
Anyway, I've been messing around with Kinect. Its not going to replace a controller, and it clearly isn't designed to. Instead, its for playing different kinds of games than you could with a controller. Adventures is your typical Wii-Sports shovel game, although the obstacle course is kinda cool. Haven't gotten to play Dance Central much due to family visiting, but what I've done so far is very cool. I don't know any club-dancing, so its definitely a challenge for me.
What it can do from a hardware standpoint is impressive. Facial recognition works well, and thanks to infrared it works well under a variety of lighting conditions. Other players can quickly step in or out of the play field. The coolest thing that I just discovered tonight, is in videochat. While with most videochat programs you have to sit right in front of the camera, Kinect will track you as you move around the room and keep the image more or less centered on you.

I've no idea what the games are like but these homebrew things for Kinect are pretty cool.
