In terms of what to hope for, one thing about KC1 that struck me is that you couldn't quite keep coming back to it like you could with Skyrim, and I was trying to think about why that is.
I would have thought that the answer is quite obvious in this case? I've never actually
played Skyrim, but doesn't it have new side quests and stuff to do all over the map, whereas KC1 doesn't have that much to do beyond the main story activities? You don't have to run after collectibles in KC, there's not much epic gear to be found, and there certainly are no magical or mysterious secret places that you can explore. Having said that, all those "missing features" is probably exactly what I
loved about KC, and just wandering around the forests was surprisingly cool and relaxing, but I suppose it does get tedious at some point. Endless amount of side quests does sound nice, and I would have loved some of that in KC, but addictive gameplay isn't always the same as
good gameplay.
One thing that I would have liked to see in KC is a more dynamic and living game world though. The towns feel authentic and everything, but it would have been cool to see the townsfolk go about their daily routines, like in Ultima VII. Or when the enemy army and the bandits leave the ransacked village of Rovna, and some people plan to rebuild it afterwards, it would have been cool if those people actually moved back there. That would have offered some possibilities for some sensible side quests too.

While I deeply love this game, one of the most immersive experiences, dema is right. I went back a little while ago to replay it and doesnt hit the same way when you know the story etc.

Always heard good things about this game, but never pulled the trigger. Today, saw it was on sale on the Playstation store, including all the DLC, for 4 dollars. So yeah, I picked it up. That always strikes me as odd when they have such extreme sales. Like, did they really need to mark it down 90% to get people to buy it? That seems bizarre, especially for a game like this that's been praised quite a bit.

It's great, but it's admittedly kind of old now and has its fair share of wonk, and I think even for as loved as it is, it's still pretty niche.

Here's that big vid, if someone hasn't seen it.

A couple notes:
-Why did they get 2 identical looking dudes to play the main dudes? They're not supposed to be twins, are they?
-I always figured Deliverance was a subtitle and they'd call the sequel something else.
Besides that... yeah. Looks good. I only played a few hours of the first one. Didn't quite grab me and it was a tad wonky. I still really like the idea of a down to earth medieval story, so looking forward to the sequel.

Yeah, I'd love KCD to be massively popular and sell a hundred million copies, but the game certainly is not for everyone. Unless you really care about the story, I suppose that the game could get quite boring otherwise. The main story progresses at the pace of a snail, and instead of being the almighty hero who saves the world, the protagonist is more of an ordinary fellow who has to go through some shit. There isn't much action, and the melee combat feels slow and doesn't look as "cool" as in pretty much every other game, because it's supposed to be somewhat realistic. Hitting anything with your bow and arrows is ridiculously difficult, and of course there's no magic in KCD. Personally, I love that the game tries to simulate real world as accurately as possible, but real world isn't always that exciting. :D
As for the new game reveal, I'm all aboard the hype train at the moment. This is exactly what I wanted to see. I'm a little concerned about the story that is supposed to be "bigger and more epic", because it was the
un-epicness of the story in KCD that made it sort of unique. Then again, Henry (the protagonist) is no longer the ordinary guy that he was in the beginning of the first game, so I suppose that it makes sense for him to get messed in some bigger stuff. I'm surprised that they're aiming for a 2024 release, but let's hope that they'll manage to pull it off and KCD2 will be a success.

It never crossed my mind that the two main dudes look so similar, but yeah, you're right! They're
not supposed to be twins, unless there's some massive plot twist in KCD2. :D I agree about the Deliverance subtitle, I too thought that they'd go for "Vengeance" or something in the sequel. Well, Vengeance would be cheesy, but there are plenty of other fine and cool-sounding words out there.
What did you find a tad wonky about the first game? I suppose there are a lot of possible reasons, but if you're like me and you first played the game with keyboard+mouse, thinking that it would be the best option... well, then you made the wrong choice! :p I found that playing with the gamepad was
so much better, and especially the combat changed from "kinda awkward" to "actually pretty fun".

That's interesting! I've been wanting to play it at some point, will have to do so on the Xbox rather than PC then (or maybe try using the Xbox gamepad on the PC).
