expensive.
the lately shown gameplay trailers did feature stock dialogue between boring scifi cliche dudes so no surprises there. judging from the ad campaigns bioware vomited upon us for ME2 (if that's about sex just say it - bitch) and especially DragonAge ( rebel-rebel-bitch-bitch-and-don't-forget-the-violence) I wonder when they start to fuck up KOTOR in public perception. But I bet Lucas won't let them go that way so it could stay "decent".

yeah, I'd say that's an accurate portrait of the KOTOR (2) MMO target audience.

"KOTOR (2)" ? The first half of Obsidian's KOTOR2 is perhaps better than any Bioware game since ever. :)
Their latest so-called RPG, Mass Effect, is more like an interactive movie or action/adventure. And its story is really quite a lot like KOTORs, which itself was pretty standard stuff. And yet Bioware has seemingly convinced the majority of "modern gamers" that they are gods of marvelous RPG experiences. I think Bioware is ready to move to MMOs and a lot of people are ready for the "MMORPG" they'll make.

my bad, kotor2 was the one by obsidian, so this would be...kotor3 ?
anyway, I agree with MassEffect, actually all the bioware titles since KOTOR follow the same pattern, themes and even have some quests/characters copied over. that's why Dragon-rebel-rebel-bitch-bitch-Age can kiss my RISEN ass

Hmmm, seems to be dated for Q2 2011. A good year, since they won't be going up against the inevitable WoW expansion pack for 2012.
Quote:
BioWare have today confirmed that their massively multiplayer title set in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will be released in New Zealand’s autumn, 2011.
The confirmation comes on the back of rumours kindled by EA CEO John Riccitiello’s comments yesterday.

I'm very much enjoying the game. I don't know it fares outside of the prologue worlds, but out of the character classes that I've tried, the story content of both thus far is up to the standards of Bioware's traditional solo RPGs.
I acquired a companion character and how they function is more or less how it is Dragon Age: Origins. Your choices during dialogue exchanges affects your standing with the companion. When you're out in the world, the companion comment upon particular locations, as they do in prior Bioware RPGs.
Combat is your typical MMO-fare. Spam number keys and wait for cooldowns.
The dialogue wheel is glaring as Mass Effect's and DA2's. Morality affecting options are spelt out for you with specific affinity icons.

I played a Flashpoint (group dungeon) earlier and it was a lot of fun. The story-driven focus of this game takes things to a whole 'nother level; it played and felt just like a larger quest from a Bioware SP RPG.
The storylines in Flashpoints branch, as you would expect from a Bioware title. In group conversations "a dice" is rolled over who gets to speak and/or make decisions. Eg whether to kill an NPC or spare his life. Also Flashpoints are repeatable, so you can always go back and track to get different outcomes.
From what I've noticed, your moral standing has no affect on how adept you are with your powers/abilities (i.e. unlike KotOR), but there is armour/weapons/equipment with morality restrictions.

Can't believe you are playing an MMO.
