I just checked, and my download has exactly the same number of bytes as are listed on the CheapThief site, so I don't think it was a download error. I'm stumped what's going on, why it keeps crashing to the desktop... anyone have any suggestions?
Dafydd
You could always try downloading it again. I imagine that it is possible for the byte count to be correct but for corruption to occur. In the absense of error checking, this is obviously possible. I don't know if CRC error checking is 100% foolproof. Does anyone else?

In a previous existence I worked on hard disk controllers and software. IIRC, a 16 bit CRC will allow one error pattern in 65535 to slip past. I don't know what the chances are of an error pattern occurring in the first place, but you have to multiply the two together to calculate the (very long) odds.

WinRar has a zip file repair ability. Sometimes it can repair slightly damaged mission zip files & get them playable. Desktop ace or Winace can do this as well. Times I've had to do this I ended of with missing some textures, but the missions were "playable" and no cdt's.

Heh, okay so Im slow.
Ive just started downloading on Torrent, because although it doesnt download anywhere near as close as Im able to get it, I like torrent. Besides its nearly doing 60kb/s. Thats quite impressive for torrent compared to what Im used to.
Its also good because it means I have to wait and... revise for my A-levels :( .
Meh.
So after wizzing past anything that may give a glimse about whats happening Im excited! :cheeky:

It should be going plenty fast for everyone; there are eleven seeds, four downloaders and plenty of free bandwidth.
Anyway, if you can't get it via torrent from me very quickly, I don't know how you'd be able to get it via FTP from me any faster. You'll be able to try it out once I get home from work and turn on regular downloads.

Argh, I'm having crashing problems! I was fine with the two betas, but suddenly with the release version, I can't get past the conversation at the beginning of Reversing.
If I leave the room, the game crashes; if I wait through the conversation, then when Alisha leaves, the game crashes. I think the commonality is Alisha leaving (being teleported out)... I think she disappears if I go into reception, right?
Dafydd - Looks like Moghedian's suggestion works... uninstall KotP, reboot, then reinstall the FM. Glad to hear you're okay now. Not sure what that could be about, but I'll have a look before I release the 'campaign' version (all missions in one pack) this summer.

I am also having issues with Lady Alisha and her disappearance in Reversing the Order. I went through Kevel's apartment, killed evil guy what's his face, and waited... then went looking for her. I looked for two hours straight and I'm pretty sure I killed all the bad guys. Can't find her anywhere. She hasn't wandered to Garrett's apartment and I can't find a corpse, and I figure that if she were killed, the mission would fail.
Never the less, I start again. I leave before the conversation is finished, she never comes out the door. I restart again. I wait till the end of the conversation, and I see her outside for two seconds, then she disappears completely in front of me...
So, now what? Do I have to uninstall/reinstall and start all over again? Or is there some nifty dromed way to figure out where she is? I love the series, but this is driving me to distraction (I even had nightmares about it last night!!!)
Other than that, really cool level design. I was lost in the industrial district for about 45 minutes. :)
PS: Playing on normal, with patched version. (1.18)

Just finished this campaign (finals week escape); simply amazing, absolutely loved it. And normally timed missions just piss me off.

Had a little trouble in The Inheritance, since I originally went around ko'ing all of the remaining guards (2 were sleeping, 1 was walking around) when I saw them, and when I tried to go see Alisha, it would say Mission Failed and check off that I had killed someone. I'm not sure if this is a bug or what but restarting and avoiding them was easy enough (Played on expert, version 1.18)
Edit: Don't know if this may help but I KO'd the one walking guard in the upper walkway area and it may have been one of the areas where the
fires are located in the final fortress seige scene
Bit Torrent for me(version3) is 3-5k download and 0-2 upload. 9+ hrs estimated at start and 5 and 3/4hrs to go now over a span of 3 days. I've been getting a tracker error and have to cancel the download. Maybe Aol and BT don't like each other?
So, I thought I'd be clever and upgrade to bt 401; the download has started all over again. I had hoped it would resume as it had been. But, the download rate has improved to fluxing between 3 and 6k now. I know KotP5-9 will be worth the wait. If I read right, BT is supposed to be more community friendly so I like it.
Using regular download in the past I average 8mb/ half-hour (7.9 hrs for a 126mb file) using Mozilla, Opera, Dap. IE's download manager is a crawler.
