The rope arrows can be accessed again via your mouse wheel (although as you are using a laptop I am thinking you don't have a mouse plugged in, in which case you may have set up so keys to cycle through your weapons, if not you should do).
With regards to the humming, I'm not sure, I don't get it myself so I would presume something is up with your laptop.

Thanks for that ascottk , I've played around with a few things and have a gut feeling it's not my laptop. When I saved after getting the noise (feedback) it disappeared when I loaded the newly saved game (!!) so the jury's still out. Won't stop me enjoying the FMs though, just need to get new eardrums!

Just for the record , I seem to have got around the sound problem by downloading new Realtek AC97 drivers and the buzzing noise has now gone completely.

I have two keys[SPOILER] that were found in the places mentioned earlier - I have followed the inventory instructions given earlier as well - and I still cannot opne the chest.

Just for clarification: I have the key found in the secret room with the chalice instructions and the key found earlier in the guard tower. I cycled through inventory to use keys on chest and neither one seems to work.

What am I missing?[/SPOILER]

I don't know (can't remember) where is the chest you're talking about.
But maybe there is an answer somewhere on the previous pages of the thread...
