On the official Rockstar site, there is this blurb: "While we have yet to announce a definitive release date, L.A. Noire is coming along quite splendidly, and we're going to have details to share with you all very soon."
Finally some rumbling on this game, we've been waiting a long time. Since we know that it's no longer a PS3 exclusive, hopefully it's coming to PC too.

That spelling annoys me to no end, just like the constant mispronunciation of the supposedly Serbian surname "Bellic". (Yes, I'm a language nerd.)

Well the spelling makes sense if they consider the city of L.A to be of feminine gender. That's how the adjective would spell in French relating to a feminine noun. But the game being destined to a massively anglosaxon market, i understand it just sounds as a silly attempt to look "cool".

Yes, but now that you mention it, that is a good point: it still is a French word. The very idea of proper "English usage" doesn't even make sense (in the English dictionary I looked at, it had the word listed as a noun meaning film noir styled things.)

Au contraire, you are correct - there is no precedent for using French correctly in English.

Obviously I'm being nitpicky here, but "noir" would be a loan word, wouldn't it? And those rarely are used in accordance with the source language but rather in accordance (as much as possible) with the matrix language.
However, all of this is ancient history for me: I think we did them in Linguistics in the late 1990s. Chances are I misremember.

Twas partly a joke. Whilst English has some very well entrenched French which I would argue are no longer "loaned" by dint of their widespread use, like that in my other post, I used it incorrectly. Boom tish!

Team Bondi to showcase art of LA Noire at GCAP ‘09
Looks like a LA Noire reveal is coming closer and closer.
The game will be talked about at a Australian gaming event, GCAP ‘09, where developer of the game Team Bondi and the studio's Ben Brudenell will be holding a session at the event entitled “Recreating LA - The Art of LA Noire”.
PS3, 360 and PC, this one looks like. Rockstar were seeking actors for mo-cap and voice acting for the game, it was revealed this morning.
That's the first week of December, IIRC.

Sounds incredibly interesting, didn't know about the policeman rising through the ranks mechanics. Plus, if they can pull of the whole mocap thing so that you'll really be able to tell whether suspects are lying simple by looking at their face, that'll be mighty impressive.
