Honestly, scots taffer was the very FIRST person I thought of (and I don't know him and he couldn't give two shits about me) when I got into this game. It is SO up his alley, and being a cinema fan he could do worse with a new game this year. Recommended, scots! :thumb:

The final 3 or so hours of this game are definitely the strongest of the bunch, and the encapsulate the whole game pretty well. Pretty well all of the interrogation, driving, clue hunting, and shooting is removed, and instead you basically walk from one cutscene to the next. This allows the narrative to keep moving (and it really flies along towards the end), and means you can just chill out and enjoy the fantastic writing/acting. The fact that the bits with the least game in them are the best of the game says everything you need to know about the mechanics of the game.
It's interesting that this, Alan Wake, and Heavy Rain all really failed to deliver on their promises, as they all seemed to be so focused on narrative in game design.

Picked up the arson cases tonight, good to be back.
What I like about the plot is that even if it may not necessarily have actually happened, some of the larger, background stuff (i.e. the rather scary redevelopment thing looming over everything) is terrifyingly plausible, especially given the widespread corruption that the LAPD and the LA government in general was infamous for.
Regarding the gameplay (and Alan Wake, for that matter): The driving aspect of LA noire is noticeably bullshit. The interrogations for the most part aren't; I'm quickly coming to realize that any failures are pretty much on my part, very often because I was going against my gut.
As to Alan Wake, I felt the gameplay itself- the mechanics of everything- were fine, the primary problem with the game was the repetitive nature of the environments. Forests get boring after about 4-5 hours.

I'm glad too. I was going to pull the trigger next month, but... oh yeah, this I can wait for. And those faces should look leaps and bounds better, too.

Wow, another twist & turn. I thought they buried PC after GTA disaster and lack of RDR.
It`s good news no doubt, but yeah...that lil` matter of GTA port... :/

Yeah, why the fuck are you guys even bothering? PC is an afterthought to Rockstar these days. And don't give me the "b-but Team Bondi made it, not Rockstar" line, because that's completely irrelevant. As long as Rockstar is publishing, I do not anticipate the PC port to be worth half a damn.

Boo hoo. Seriously, guys, there's bearing a grudge and there's this. Yes, GTA IV was pretty bad at launch, but a) that was quite a while ago and b) by the time Episodes from Liberty City came around, things looked much, much better. Doesn't mean that this will automatically be a good port, but being this sore...? Get some ointment and get over yourselves.
