jeez you're an ornery little fucker aint ya? The trailer looks awesome, not holding any hopes for a pc version though.

The graphics look good enough to suspend my disbelief. Pudding faces yeah, but good enough to convey what they're supposed to in terms of emotion and otherwise and hence easy to set aside. I guess people just have different nit-pick thresholds with different things.
@PigLick: PC version? Fugget it man. :( R* hasn't ported Red Dead Redemption to the PC and said there weren't any plans to (and hence I can't be bothered to get it even though I have a PS3), and it looks like they're not prioritising a PC release for L.A. Noire either.

No offense but this is a fairly logic-free comment. I'd really expect better from you than an RPS peanut gallery opinion.

That's a fair point. I didn't feel like repeating myself from before, because I've said it elsewhere, but the logic is this: the PS3 port has a lower resolution and is fairly choppier in terms of frame rate than the 360 version from what I've seen in the DF comparisons.
I know it'd play better on my PC if there was a damn port, and I'm not about to buy a 360 for one game. Hence, no purchase.

Nice Video!
Noticed they have the same GTA map thing in the corner, figures... (Not that it is a bad thing though.)
You don't play many R* games, do you? Almost every game they made has something similar. I guess if it ain't broke, and all that.

If you have nothing to add to the discussion other than ad hominem, then just piss off.
If you were the read the second half of my post you'd see that I did have something to add to the discussion. Sorry if I offended you but I am tired of the Uncanny Valley phrase being thrown around a lot, especially as I don't believe games are anywhere near it yet.
june gloom on 10/2/2011 at 18:49
Near it? We've spent the last five years crawling out the far end of it!
henke on 10/2/2011 at 20:20
You're saying we're on our way out of it? So you think videogame characters are starting to look and act realistic enough that you might mistake them for real people?
edit: of course the original Uncanny Valley concept concerns robots. If we're to apply it to videogames it can't just focus on the characters. It'll be when the entire simulation is lifelike enough that we might believe what we're seeing on the monitor is actually a real event, happening somewhere. And we're in control. But graphics, not to mention physics and AI have a long way to go before we're there. No, trust me on this: we are nowhere near the Uncanny Valley yet.

Actually, the more photorealistic you get, the greater you risk falling into the uncanny valley. Some of the things Eva griped about earlier, the relatively low polycount and texture resolution, are actually saving it from going too deep in. It's abstract enough to keep you brain from firing off OH GOD ITS A LIVING CORPSE KILL IT WITH FIRE! I'll give you a visual example to help illustrate my point...
L.A Noire

Some near photorealistic render of a blonde chick
Inline Image:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3018396/open_green.jpgShould be perfect, right? Skin tone is excellent, nice soft lighting, hair looks natural. The guy who made this model obviously has alot of talent. Yet there's something off about it. You can't quite put your finger on it, but it's there. And it kinda creeps you out a little bit.
See? The more realistic graphics become, the more you start noticing the little things that show it's not a real live actual human being.
L.A Noire, fortunately, isn't realistic enough to make me start screaming about the Uncanny Valley.

Yes, Renz, I'm glad to see we are on the same page about this stuff.
