Yes, I’ve finished the damn game

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif It took me around 30 hrs finishing Deus Ex on medium difficulty on my p166 MMX
Inline Image:
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I think I should get a price of some kind
Inline Image:
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif The game did go slow on some occasions but the storyline made up for –almost-- everything! Now the intro “movie” makes perfect sense

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I would like to thank everybody who worked on Deus Ex for it is truly a great work of art. No doubt ! Well now, let’s wait and see what they will do with Deus Ex 2.
How I took care of things:
Agent Anna Navarre was a real mess-up. When I had to kill her I wanted to just knock her unconscious but when she turned the damn cloaking on I really was surprised and thus I just shoot around. Eventually I got her.
Gunther Hermann was easy. I shot him with the sniper rifle in the head 2 times and he was dead.
Walton Simons was also easy. He went down with 3 sniper bullets to the head.
Bob Page. There were 3 different ways of dealing with him. All of the choices weren’t really that difficult (maybe because the medium dif. setting).
I played the game stealth-style. I didn’t really have any other choice, because if engaged in battle, the frame rate would drop tremendously and my computer would be shaking all around, so I had to try and “knock” people out (with the baton or tranquilizer darts) as much as possible. If the non lethal way didn’t work (like with MJ12 Commando’s who were difficult to knock out) I shot them with the sniper rifle from a safe distance. As soon as I get a new PC I am installing Deus Ex and playing it on realistic setting. For sure !
One of the other things why I liked Deus Ex so much is because in some places you could climb on a rooftop (or some other places) and snipe enemies down. Fun. What kept me from killing everybody who was against me were those, amusing, conversations

“Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our heads to the emperors, but today we only kneel before the truth”.
-- Kahlil Kibran
“Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
”.
-- Paradise Lost, John Milton
“If there were no god it would be necessary to invent him”
-- Volaere
These sentences give you something to think about in the end. Great thing to come up with something like that !
Btw, what has happened with the UNATCO boss-guy (Joseph Manderley) and Lucius DeBeers anyway ?

p166 MMX
That's disgusting
Anyways...
I think that Milton quote is supposed to be Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
but enough of me being a prick...
I killed Manderley in the game and God only knows what happened to DeBeers...

I love that Voltaire quote.
Seriously 166MMX -- how'd you manage?!

Frozenman, it was quite manageable, I just had to be careful not to get into fights. Loading/saving also took some time, but when you're loading/saving you can press pause (and go to the toilet/watch some TV or do something pointless) and when the game loads/saves it would be in the pause mode.

P166?! You, sir, are a stronger man than I.

You can kill Manderley. I just knocked him out because I hated him, and I didn't want Simmons to be right. Later on, Manderley gets transfered to some crappy desk job in another department I think. He's really not in the game after the break out.
