Ja, ich habe auch die Mauer vergessen.

I just did that because I'm such a nice guy I can't even smack talk Koki without being a little self-deprecating to soften it.

It wasn't. I got to spend the day overseeing an Afghan police checkpoint as part of the effort to track down that brit.
Did he turn up? Last I heard the Taliban said they'd killed him.

I don't know what you do but as someone with a nephew just gone out for a 3rd tour, my thanks for whatever it is and I hope it's never him you look for. Mind you, I do think that if you sign up for the services then you should expect to get shot and/or killed. But the recruiting sergeants always seem to gloss over that bit.

Not that I'd give the (

My thanks and respect as well, CCCToad. Knowing you are going into harms way and doing it anyway takes a backbone.
When did it become disect demagogue like a bug day? What I like best about revolutionary America was that George gave up power when his term was over. There are quite a number of so called democracies that haven't gotten the hang of decentralized power and sacrifice for an idea.
Who am I kidding? I like it all. It's one hell of a story all the way. Too bad republicans are going to kill it by rufusing to let the rich be taxed at a level which will keep the deficit at bay but it was a really neat country for awhile.

Actually it talked about a number of statues all over Europe, but I wasn't sure if all of them were unveiled on the 4th or just the London one
Well, I was just shocked by London...that guy`s not exactly popular in my adopted hometown. All become clear when I read it`s in Grosvenor Square - which is practically an American soil, since it`s where US Embassy is.
Ah, I could rant and rave bout the old RR...but not on these pages. Back to videogames, bwoy!

Yeah maybe democracy & independence should be left to countries that deserve it, so I can understand your apathy.
Well, there's quite a few people (including denizens of TTLG) that believe that most people are too "fucking stupid" to be able to make their own decisions, and that every aspect of their life is best managed centrally by those who are smarter.......though in reality the self appointed "geniuses" rarely are.
demagogue on 12/7/2011 at 14:35
Of course I was just trolling with saying that. I believe liberal democracy isn't a matter of deserving it but a right & duty of just being human and having a rational mind. People should have some input over their individual & collective destinies and some inherent mistrust of others trying to make important decisions over their heads.
But it's also a responsibility people should take seriously for it to work. Probably the better quote was Shaw, "Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve." or just "In democracy, people get the government they deserve."
CCCToad on 13/7/2011 at 00:23
Maybe so, but my statement still stands. Quite a few people here in America who believe that the average person doesn't deserve to be able to make their own life decisions.

Just put on your seatbelt free spirit, they can't start the merry-go-round till you do.
And I'm pretty sure you are going to have to put down the beer.
