I know this can't be it. But it sounds a lot like varyx obelisk and heart and soul. You have to collect a talisman and use it to get a key and other stuff. Go through a portal and repeat. Each area is different and kind of represents the talisman your after. But these are thief and thief gold missions. I'm also not sure the missions take place on an island. But it does sound a lot like them.
