Primarily a PC gamer yes... but the new HD consoles aren't my first consoles by far. I have a PS3 now and a Wii. I also used to have a PSX back in the day before they were small enough to fit in your pocket. Although i remember when they were new and the next big thing.
Before I was playing Quest for Glory 3 and 4, Doom, Space Quest 5, Rise of the Triad and Duke Nukem 3D, on the PC, I spent years playing ghouls n' ghosts, After Burner, Shinobi and Phantasy Star on my Master System and Genesis consoles, not to mention marathons of Mega Man X, Zelda, Mortal Kombat II, and Final Fantasy III/VI on the SNES at friends' houses.
The biggest reason I bought the PS3 was for the classic PSX games available for cheap, and the bluray player. The Wii was most definately for the classic games, since you can buy Master System, Genesis, Turbo GFX16 (a console I wanted badly as a kid but never got), NES, SNES and Neo Geo games.
the fast majority of modern day games released on today's consoles I find to be a waste of time. And the ones that aren't I can probably (and do) get on the PC. With very few exceptions. (Uncharted, Killzone, MGS,)
I might be a PC gamer 90% of the time, but I've always played on consoles.

Just out of interest Ostriig, which games are on your acquisitions list, and what prices are you waiting for? I was shocked when I saw what some of the bigger-name PS3 games can be bought for in some places.
Red Dead Redemption's looking like it might just be awesome right now, so that's one first-rate interest, and judging from the early teasers and what you guys have been saying about Team ICO, Last Guardian might be another. Uncharted and Brutal Legend are also titles I think I'd like to check out. And, in the unlikely event I manage to blow through my extensive PC backlog over the summer, I might be tempted to try out a God of War or Gears of The Same game out of the bargain bin.
Regarding prices, I'd be willing to drop 20 to 30 quid on a new release I'm hyped about (e.g. Red Dead Redemption), maybe 30-and-a-bit. So pretty much what you expect for PC titles. For an older release, or a title I'm otherwise more on the fence about, in the 10 to 20 bracket, I guess (e.g. Brutal Legend, Uncharted 2). But new AAA console games seem to routinely push £40+, and it's more than I'm willing to drop on them. I did it once, for Heavy Rain, but that will remain a unique occurrence for the foreseeable future. As far as I can tell, I'll just hold out on console titles until they drop in price. Which won't be hard, to be fair, seeing as the PC will remain my main focus.
However, it also doesn't help that some of them don't seem to be keen on going down in price all that soon. Brutal Legend has, yes - you can now get it around the £15 mark or even cheaper, but (
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PlayStation-3/Uncharted-2-Among-Thieves/~r342099/) GAME are still listing Uncharted 2 at £40. Amazon are doing a better job, with (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B0029U2WGE/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1270655476&sr=8-1&condition=new) offers as low as £30, but that's still more than I'm willing to throw at a game that's been out for half a year already, especially since that's what I'm used to paying for a new AAA PC title. I guess it's stayed in high demand, so it's fair business, and I know about the extra royalties for deploying on console, but I'm just not going to join on that. If you know retailers that routinely do considerably better deals on console games, though, please do share.

One thing that I will share with you is (

I was the other way around. I began with consoles (Intellivision and Atari 2600 are the oldest consoles I've had that I recall...), later on I found out that my sisters' PC for homework had games I wanted more...took many years to get a decent gaming PC (in yonder days...), but the consoles never stopped rolling.
I love'em both. Consoles and PCs.

Same boat. Started out on a NES, slowly worked my way up through every subsequent generation. Around 1993 I got a PC- it had no sound, and ran on Windows 3.1, but it was my introduction to games like Commander Keen. My neighbor had a PC too, and I discovered Wolfenstein, and later Doom, on that thing, going over once a week in the summer to play the shareware versions of said games; his wife would let me play while he was at work.
But I remained a die-hard console kiddie for years; it wasn't until around 2000 or so that I started playing more PC games and fewer console games, and nowadays I barely even touch my consoles. I only use my PS2 as a DVD player now, pretty much. I'm trying to change this, though- I've made plans to play through some of my old favourites this year.

Yeah. As much as I'd like to think that I was a PC elitist since forever (hi Alley Cat/Dangerous Dave/Prince of Persia!), my very first hazy gaming memories are of me and my bro guiding a certain moustachioed plumber onwards by bopping on turtle shells and collecting flowers that caused him to spit balls of flame.
Also, there was an Atari 2600, and my dad being so absorbed by Space Invaders that he twisted the joystick so hard that it *CRRRACKED* and the stick broke away, twisted wires dangling from it. Also, I spent too much of my childhood summer vacations on what was quite possibly the worst Spiderman game ever made.

I started playing games on consoles because it was a lot easier to get my dad to buy an Atari 2600 than an Apple ][e.

I switched to consoles in Spring 2006 with the purchase of a 360.
For me, the biggest draw was exclusive titles. There's quite a few awesome games that simply aren't on PC (most recently Demon's Souls), and quite a few more that work better on consoles than PC(3rd Person action games). Price has also been a consideration during college. Not only is the console considerably cheaper than a PC, but I can use a rental plan and play through games for more cheaply than by buying each game individually.

I got a PS3 for the overall package. I'm more into leftfield stuff like Team Ico's stuff than Halo, though I do play FPSs, so the PS3 made sense. That plus the rest of the hardware abilities sold it for me. And I like co-op and beat-em ups.
I'm still primarily a PC gamer though.

That looks pretty good, cheers!
