And it only took them a few years!
Except for victims like me who bought games from them during that time period... We're screwed, because they don't even have the soul to release a patch to fix it.
Never again, Ubi... NEVER AGAIN!

What about Starforce? Didn't they remove that because people were hating on it?
Only to replace it with something less draconian. Switching from one DRM method to another ain't getting rid of DRM.

All the rage will only work if people really really really don't buy the game this time instead of posting a rant on their favourite forum/blog/tweet and then buying it nevertheless. :tsktsk:

Yes, the only language these people understand is Mammon. While it is right that games companies protect their incomes, if the customers get narked off then they are best just to not buy it. If they really really want it, then they can buy it in the bargain bin when it has been re-released without such strong DRM (or online via Steam or similar).
People are too short-termist these days. Why play brand-new games when ones from 3-4 years ago are just as good and about a fifth the price? The only games I purchased brand new were (a) Thief III, and (b) Medieval 2 Total War, and that was because I wanted to support the developer as much as possible.

Games have become more corporate due the ballooning budgets.
If you want something different, lobby governments to directly subsidise proper gaming culture, as the EU does for movies for example, do not give your money to capitalists.
Or play Dwarf Fortress!

Or even better, give it to capitalists who provide a valuable, hassle-free product or service in turn.

Hell, why not just turn it over to the communists instead. Then everybody gets a share. Problem solved!

Seeing as how they can take away your game after the sale, I'd say we already have. It will get to the point where nobody can own a physical copy of the content they purchase.

!
So if I have the government take my tax money and give it to movie/game makers, I'm not giving my money to capitalists?

I think this new system is just going to encourage more piracy rather that deter it. When you impose strict controls like this there will always be people rebelling against it.
