Well of course I do. It's not like I live
outside popular culture. And Dead Rising does it better: "ZOMBIES are
stupid and
slow"!
Co-op, CO-OP,
CO-OP. It's teamwork that just happens to be set in during a zombie apocalypse. Solid gameplay built around relying on your friends to survive is fun.

There were people whom bought the likes of Q3A, UT and Battlefield solely for singleplayer. These individuals are idiots.

If you're looking for a slower-paced co-op zombie experience, Zombie Panic: Source is your best bet, though nobody wants to play any of the best maps.

From my escapades into world of multiplayer I have learned but one thing: relying on other people to watch your back is a big mistake.

* There's only four people
* You
cannot survive alone
* Friendly fire
* Vote kicks are built-in
* Your SteamID is displayed everywhere
People quickly get the picture that they have to work together.

While it is 100% true in pretty much every online game I played, it is, shockingly, much different with L4D. Perhaps I was just lucky, but troughout 20+ hours of demo playing I encountered a spectacular amount of teamwork. People moving together. People protecing one another. As soon as you get jumped by a hunter or a smoker, everyone will turn around and come to protecting. Often they will come back for you even if it means possibly harm to them. You also find the occasional gems where if you get jumped by a horde after a boomer vomits on you (which attracts a shitton of zombies who all swarm at you), the other will surround and protect you until the swarm dies out.
It's really amazing how the game mechanics force the players to truly cooperate; like no other game.

'tis true. You're *incredibly* vulnerable alone. I get incredibly nervous when I'm the only one left alive... I can see that, just 50 yards away from the subway car door, there's 2 survivors trapped (aka respawns) that I can let out. I can hear a hunter, but I can't see him...
*shudder*

It does still have the occasional "Burke" moments, though. One round my group was heading towards the subway entrance, I'd bled out to 1 hit point and was limping along, and the first guy to get to the stairs gets hit by a boomer. As the horde starts pouring out to get him I go 'fuck THIS,' run around the zombies down to the safe room, lock myself in and start bandaging myself up, the guy who got hit by the boomer died in the horde rush, but the other two manage to make it to the stairs, so I open the door and head back to help them, when ANOTHER boomer shows up and hits them, and they promptly get knocked down. So I just shut the safe room door again and wait for them to die.

This is why I hate the Smoker so much. Some of the other specialized zombies have one-hit kills, but the Smoker has the ability to quickly and decisively isolate you from your comrades. In a game where teamwork is the cornerstone of success and survival, the Smokers' ability to rip me away from comparative safety is unnerving.
Smoker/Boomer or Smoker/Hunter combos have made an art out of ruining things. I've learned that one rule about never being first, never being last, and never ever volunteer for anything applies. Let some other poor sod be rear guard (Hunter fodder), I say.

Take off, nuke site from orbit.

I don't see how they could have made the zombies slow and still make a fun game. It's not the next Resident Evil; they obviously weren't after that sort of game, so having an enemy you can outrun with ease wouldn't be terribly interesting.
