I hate the fact that there's no server browser, 80% of the games i join are unplayable because of the high ping.. I wish i could find games in my own country with good ping.

Ahem.

BTW if you hate the console-esque matchmaking system (I do, it keeps connecting me to distant and laggy Yank servers), then just use the "hidden" server browser.
Enable the console and then type in openserverbrowser. I've bound this to a hotkey.
Eg bind f12 openserverbrowser.

Easily the best co-op since
SWAT 4.
fixed ;)

Well, after beating No Mercy and Death Toll I think Versus could use some tweaking. As it stands, the biggest threat to survivors is a Boomer either waiting by a door or spawning just out of sight. The other special zeds then become extraordinary lethal while the survivors are distracted, although the Hunter seems a hell of a lot better than the Smoker. The Tank is also nigh-unbeatable when player-controlled.
What do you think?

I hate to tell you guys but expert isn't as hard as you might think. The only tough thing in expert is a Tank, and we're having fairly little trouble right now with only 3 people and a bot. It is fun though, you do have to do it right but if you do it right its hard to fail.

Well I haven't played Versus yet, to be honest it doesn't have the appeal of the normal co-op to me as I like the us against them feel which is heightened when all the humans are on one side, but I think one tweak that would be great would be to make the Witch much more lethal. She is very creepy but not that deadly unless you encounter her with a horde of zombies in which case her creepiness factor is somewhat lessened.
I'm glad you find expert easy BEAR but when I played it we were constantly getting our asses handed to us!

Well, its not as easy as I made it sound. Tanks = hard. Thats where we fail. We beat the first campaign (no mercy) again today on expert because the guy we beat it with last night didn't get the achievement. Lol because he didn't get it again.
Vs is fucking mad. We just did the entire no mercy campaign 4v4 and roasted the other team, all 4 of us GOT TO DA CHOPPA in the end and none of us died. It was fucking INSANE though, most intense thing I've about ever done. Its 12:30 and I'm fucking wired, no way I can sleep. I'll go out and say that the infected almost have the harder job. Smokers can't pull a survivor over a pebble on the ground and hunters have to be very very coordinated to not get blown down. Boomers are about as powerful as they need to be and tanks are tough. We beat 2 tanks to beat last chapter of no mercy and not a single person died or hardly got hurt. We on the other hand beat them to death with one, so you have to be good at it, its not win button.
I've hardly played the game so far, I've only beaten no mercy on expert so just a couple times through and this was my first serious play time as the infected in vs. I'm going to have to practice them a little and I'm sure they can do better, especially with teamwork (but I'm a tribes player so I'm totally gay for that shit). Either way its like 40 degrees in my room and I'm burning up because I'm so wired. I'll bet I burned 1000 calories doing that. All night all I'll hear is "GET THIS HUNTER OFF ME!!!!", and it is awesome.

the better you play on expert the more the director punishes you. we actually use it as a tactic to have at least one guy at 10-20 health and 2 at 50%. that way you cheat death ;)
anyways, I played some maps on expert, only finished mercy/dead air on them
(and by FINISH I mean without anyone dying, EVER ! no pussy runs into safehouse and let the dead respawn for next map).
and when I'm sick of the 4 campaigns on expert (won't be soon, this game is addictive) there will already be enough mods around for either comic-gameplay (slooooow zombies) or hyper-expert-constant punishment. and maybe valve blesses us with a 5th campaign down the line.
I say it again. best mulitplayer single player online shooter.
almost doom-sized for me.
get the right people together (I found the perfect 3 guys for it):
- the joker (likes to sound off car alarms)
- the adventurer (gets usually a piece of witch in the face)
- the cs player (uses hunting rifle, likes to stand on the head of other players)#
- me (grumpy and zynic), I watch their backs
and then stay "in character". I didn't have so much fun since my doom sessions in school. we tried different "challenges" like: no melee allowed,
no crouching, try to beat the map as fast as possible.
after the finale of the campaign the game statistics get presented as rolling credits to the fictional movie and we usually let them play everytime, it's such a nice touch. my best:
dead air: expert: 2h 37min: 4,572 zombies were harmed in the making of this movie

mothra is impressed by a Valve game? High praise indeed, and my life no longer makes sense.
