mothra is impressed by a
Valve game? High praise indeed, and my life no longer makes sense.
As previously stated, the game wasn't really developed by Valve.
The
real Valve has likely been occupied with playtesting Episode 3 to death, this whole time. God forbid that the player is left to think for himself for even a minute, outside of the occasional (painfully obvious) physics puzzle.

I have to agree with everyone who has said the full game is a lot better than the demo. I've done a 180 on my opinion of the game.

What's this "real Valve" horseshit? Turtle Rock Studios
is Valve- Valve South, their southern California development office.
Your pessimistic assessment of Valve's gameplay aesthetic aside, I doubt they're in the playtesting phase yet. This is
Valve we're talking about.

I don't hate valve.
i love portal and now L4D. it's a classic. already ingrained into my mind:
"reeeeloading"
"aaaaargh" (tank cry accompanied by the trumpet solo)
"get it off, get it offffff"
I still think the HL-series is one of the best "boring" franchises in gaming, HL1 + HL2:EP2 being the high notes in the series, valve seem (for me) only to excel if they stray away from their path and incorporate fresh talent (Portal) or they concentrate on that that really works for them and strip it down to their essentials (L4D) instead of trying to infuse their games with lost-style tension and ludicrous dialogue/repetetive gameplay. still they are lightyears ahead of ..., say, the COD franchise.
but now I'm gonna shut up and play some more DOOM, aehm, Left4Dead I meant to say.

Sounds like you know your business well enough, send me a pm or something with your steam info or look me up if you want to play some (we occasionally need a 4th person, have had to do it several times with noobs and or bots), my steamid is taffmaster (yeah I know, I made that like 4+ years ago when I played CS source for a single weekend with a friend when it was free, forgot I'd even made it).

Mine is 0wtf0dethtoll (needed something for Steam when I first installed HL2), so add me and when I get the game (probably around Christmas) I'll join in too. Expect to see me on TF2 as well. We're going to make use of Black Friday to see what kind of deal I get on a PSU.

For what it's worth, my SteamID is "Destria".
I abandoned "CocoClown" when I moved on from Quake.

Yeah but being that it was built on the Source engine and their previous work with together and Valve's logo showing up in this (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnGE1dyjxQQ&feature=related) early L4D trailer you can bet that it's been a collaborative effort eventually leading up to Turtle Rock being absorbed.
And to add something, I really hope they incorporate some of the Director AI into Episode 3. Something like that would've worked really well at say the White Forest Inn.

The White Forest Inn is why I love Valve.

ai director for portals :joke: in episode3 !
btw, destria aint working.
which gives me a great mod idea: the portal gun in L4D. being able to redirect zombie hordes from on part of the map to another !
