the better you play on expert the more the director punishes you. we actually use it as a tactic to have at least one guy at 10-20 health and 2 at 50%. that way you cheat death ;)
That's not the way it worked for me! We would survive multiple zombie ambushes with everyone below 50 health and then a tank would turn up!

Yeah but being that it was built on the Source engine and their previous work with together and Valve's logo showing up in this (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnGE1dyjxQQ&feature=related) early L4D trailer you can bet that it's been a collaborative effort eventually leading up to Turtle Rock being absorbed.
Yeah, it's quite obvious that the 'real' Valves fingerprints are all over this game.
I really really love the way the characters say things at various points in the levels and the way it varies depending on who got there first. For example each character has something different to say when trying to open the safe door in the church in 'Death Toll'. I quite liked Francis' response!

ai director for portals :joke: in episode3 !
btw, destria aint working.
which gives me a great mod idea: the portal gun in L4D. being able to redirect zombie hordes from on part of the map to another !
Hrm... try "destria2000".

The conversation system seems to be broken in my copy. All of the conversations in my game end up like:
MOLOTOV OVER HERE
PIPE BOMB OVER HERE
HEALTH KIT OVER HERE
MOLOTOV OVER HERE
STAY TOGETHER
MOLOTOV OVER HERE
MOLOTOV OVER HERE
ZZzzzzzzzzz.....

Just finished Death Toll and Dead Air. Still fantastic fun and that part when the plane crashes in front of you is one of the best scripted sequences I've ever seen. Seems the AI Director was a little bit nicer today as I played those 2 campaigns on hard and wasn't killed once. Has some close calls though!

dead air and no mercy have the best finales, considering location/setting/layout for me. especially mercy since it's a medium space, you have a good overview but still it feels claustrophic since you are confined on the roof, can't go off the sides....when the tank arrives this makes for comically brilliant chases between tank and the survivors, with a boomer/smoker thrown in for good measure.
toll and harvest are equally good campaigns but
"get to the choppa" beats "get to the APC/boat/plane" every time.
I need to get me the arnold soundbite for spamming during play :)
