What part of "free Friday" indicates "free Saturday and Sunday too"? :p
Bah. I thought Australians worked on this damn game.

What servers do you play on, and how's your ping time, Vrap? I've been considering giving the game a go, but if it's as laggy as heck there's not much point purchasing it.
Personally, I'm playing on a wireless connection and my ping is almost always under 100. You don't notice lag unless it gets above 150 or so.

I tend to play with friends who host, and only occasionally on a server from the limited server browser. I don't have a great connection so a good ping for me is 250-300, but the game plays pretty much flawlessly considering. I think it's a combination of incorrect ping reporting and excellent compensation/prediction for lag - I cannot understand how seamless it appears on my end, and it's still possible for me to end up getting the best scores out of the group in a stage despite my disadvantage.

Apparently Aussies did work on this game, because Freaky Free Friday was extended to 5.00pm GMT Saturday. Unfortunately, that's about 1 hour away at this time.

It's only scripted in those parts where you have to flip a switch, and everywhere else it's not randomized as such - it's orchestrated by a meta AI (the "Director AI") that controls the ebb and flow of the game. So if you're going through a quiet period, there's inevitably going to be a mob rush any moment soon. That kind of variation makes the game fresh, and I've played the No Mercy campaign over and over again and I still find it really fun.
Yup. I figured that out in a big bad way last night. After posting here asking if anyone wanted to play, I saw Fafhrd was already on, so I harassed him into playing. The following 2 1/2 hours were about the most fun I've had in front of my computer beyond googling porn. There were thrills, chills, spills, and more horrible deaths than I care to admit to (due to the fact I thought it'd be a great idea to play the last campaign on advanced difficulty). Things were so fun, in fact, I think I'm suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.
I'm dead set on buying this game tonight, and talking as many people as I can into getting along with me.

I wish I could play it. I would snatch this up in a minute.

Thanks for the heads up, catbarf and Vrap! What you guys said bodes well, so I think I'll give it a try ASAP.

Have they done anything about adding the team support that really should've been in there from the get-go into the matchmaking system?
Haven't fired it up in ages because I got sick of ending up with three random people against a coordinated team.

I just purchased it. We should put up our Steam user names here so that we can organise a game or two. Mine's Kroakie.

Three guesses what mine is. I've been playing with Fafhrd, Corto, and some guy named Naty. Good times...but damn, L4D wears me out.
