Hey, I'm not the one whose still holding petty grudge after being called on his ignorance ages ago. The point about you considering the internet to be Serious Business still stands.
Seeing as the event you are referring to (

I also find it slightly depressing that I remember that..from about 4 or 5 months ago :(

No,
this is what you should be "Jesusing" about:
Quote:
According to Lombardi Left 4 Dead 2 has already set the record for greatest number of pre-orders in the company's history, around 300% of Left 4 Dead's pre-orders numbers
The backlash seems to be some bonkers pre-order generator in it's spare time.

...and the bulk of that is highly likely for the 360 version. As I've said in the past, they're going down the Mission Pack Sequel route because they want some of that Xbox 360 user bank. Greed as a motivator overrides "Valve time".

I'd be very interested to see the breakdown for the pre-orders.
I don't get the "Valve are so greedy" POV because, well, it hasn't existed 'til now. Valve have always had the utmost respect from gamers and, what with the great deal the Orange Box was, have seemed anything but greedy.

Not to mention it's made by a completely secondary studio, Valve South (aka Turtle Rock) who seem to operate on a different schedule than 10-years-for-TF2 Valve.
Also, Eva's accusation of Expansion Pack Sequel doesn't really hold much water- A) the point of sequels is that they resemble their predecessors and 2) even the boycott's leaders are satisfied that L4D2 is big enough to be its own game.

Obviously I haven't played it but from the vids and the screens it really does look like just an expansion though. Not that it bothers me too much but I see where people are coming from.

The same could've been said about
Thief 2, though, couldn't it? What I mean is, the line between sequel and expansion is extremely blurry, and usually I think it's more down to whether you're positively disposed towards the game and company to begin with or not. If you loved
L4D and are happy with Valve, chances are you'll see it as a glorified expansion pack; if you're less than happy with Valve, you're more likely to see it as an expansion. You seem to be pretty neutral on this, though, SE, so perhaps I'm just full of it. ;)
Has anything been said about whether the
L4D missions might be playable using the sequel?
SubJeff on 6/10/2009 at 11:56
Not AFAIK.
Also will people stop quoting entire posts that are directly above.
And yes, i'm neutral on this issue. I'll wait and see.

That's a very good point about Thief 2.
But really, the arguments against Valve on this are comical at best.

You certainly picked a weird example to support this point, considering how it's an ENTIRE puny one-line quote.
