Zombie Master is really, really bad/poorly designed/etc.
Zombie Panic Source, on the other hand, gets better with every release (though a lot of it's dependant on the server.) The only bad thing is nobody wants to play Subway, which is my favourite map.

yes, i think too that the footage looks bland and I think that's because it's a bland game. all they revealed so far, and that is practically everything about the game, the visuals, the gameplay and tools doesn't get me in any way excited. for 10 bucks, yeah, nice shooting zombies for an afternoon but how such a simplistic game could hold my attention for more than a few hours escapes me. I don't like the COD spawn wave mechanic, I can't see how I should like it here, even if it's random or "directed". I'd like to do a little more in a co-op shooter.

So, when and where did you get the opportunity to play the game?

But does anyone else feel the footage looks kinda bland? I'm sure when you're the one playing it's more intriguing but the footage just looks like Serious Sam with zombies and cool shadows. It looks like it could get boring, and quick.
Yes. This is the point I've been arguing (not on this forum) since L4D was announced.
In all the trailers and interviews, you always see the Devs talking about the focus on coop, deep atmosphere, constant sense of endangerment and struggle. All this is then promptly wiped away with a gameplay clip showing people disorganizedly bunny hopping around hordes of randomly running zombies, spamming their heavy machineguns everywhere.

L4D was an instant pre-order for me, but I can't help it; I've been going through a Zombie phase for the last 2 years, and must buy everything zombie.
It's a shame they're not traditional Romero-type zombies, as I feel with the right attention to balance, slow, headshot-only zombies could have worked just as well.
But the real redeeming feature for me is the "Versus" mode, which they seem to have been playing down recently. To me, that's the most important mode in the game: 4 vs. 4 and encouraging sneaky play on the zombie side's behalf.
I'm also really keen on seeing the Witch in action, as they've miraculously managed to build her up without spoiling what she actually does.

A lot of things are changing with 1.2.0 which is due soon. You might like to give it a try then- new weapons, balanced gameplay, fixed hitboxes and lag compensation.

What pisses me off is how the devs behind ZP:S assume that anybody who doesn't fellate them constantly is trolling and should be banned.

I hate devs like that. The fucker behind the UT2K4 mod Killing Floor is like that, and he actually likes to get his little sycophants to troll me. Fuck that guy. I hope he gets cancer and dies of AIDS in a fire at an apiary while being raped by (

hi !
you would not have thought to see me here, in a valve thread !
But I got the L4D since yesterday and played it extensively on all diff. settings and all I can say: it's a BLAST !
I renamed myself from Mothra to Mothra!BLAM!BLAM!BLAM!
to bring across the feeling I had while playing it on advanced/expert with a few friends: DOOM (the old ones)
a few things:
- it IS a brainless skillless shooter
- there are NO tactics involved whatsoever (the AI director makes sure of that)
- i managed to survive the 2 sections of the demo with 3 utter morons while dying with my battle hardened steam friends constantly
this thing has potential. it's just like those Pebble games where you immediately see what to do and it's totally easy but there's enough randomness and luck to it that it doesn't get stale. so you just keep coming back and back and back. forget what they told you about dread, atmosphere and brutality. there is none. first thing I did ingame, I turned off the stupid battle music.
this game is pure BLAM!BLAM!BLAM! and nothing else. and that is GOOD.
of course there are flaws, but only in the menue:
- console type matchmaking that's totally broken: valve already did 4 updates to the demo during the first 2 hours
- consolitis menue
once you were able to enter a game get ready for BLAM!BLAM!BLAM! OH YEAH!

I made the mistake of reading a preview and now I'm all excited for the game. I just wish I could play it :(
(Geforce 6200TC + Source engine = lol... fucking card is buggy)
