To disable the intro movie, type -novid in properties/general tab/set launch options. Still get the endgame movie and the damn stuttering. Might be able to kill that too, not sure.
Did you try my suggestion of disabling multicore rendering in the graphics options? That worked for me.

Considering she wanders around and isn't always recognizable (or audible) at a distance, it may not be on purpouse.

I don't know if it makes a difference at all, but I was also told to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and set the affinity of the process to only use one core. Works out well and fixes all the terrible stuttering that I get otherwise.

For me it stutters everytime I start it up because it never saves the change I make to multicore rendering but as soon as I set that to disabled it's fine. I'm guessing your solution does much the same thing.

Lemme guess, running Vista or W7 and Steam is installed in C:\Program Files\? That directory structure is write-protected under those OSes, hence why games often store their settings files and saves elsewhere. It's considered "bad coding practice" to store settings files in the program directory, apparently. *Sigh*
I relish programs that give you a portable installation option.

Actually no, I'm running XP and every other setting saves fine.

L4D and L4D 2...PC or console...no contest that it's a better game, technically, graphically and replayability (mods) on the PC.
But socially (co-op) it's so much more convenient in my 360....at least with the crowd I'm truly interested in playing they would only get it for 360...
Hrrrmmmm....
Taffer36 on 7/11/2009 at 18:13
I'd go for the PC version.
I'm a BIG proponent of controllers and consoles, but something is DEFINITELY lost in translation on the 360. Left 4 Dead is still certainly a fun game, but the mouse control, IMO, is pretty crucial to the feel of that game. It just doesn't work as well as it should when you play the console version.
Mr.Duck on 8/11/2009 at 18:10
Nah, control's never an issue for me. Not really. It's more the custom content vs. friendly co-op argument.
june gloom on 8/11/2009 at 18:48
Ah yeah, that's a tough choice. Left4Dead PC's playerbase is, uh... worthless. But there is so little content with the base game that you're really left starving for more on the 360.
