Gamestop was offering a 25% additional trade-in credit towards this game, so I decided to take the plunge.
You bought the 360 version? Poor bastard.

I'm doin this! Expert only. Tank on every level. Horde after horde. Got a few achievements, only 3 so far. Chainsaw good for ripping them zombie guts. Scimitar, baseball bat, crowbar, cricket bat, grenade launcher. I haven't seen much yet, just three levels of two campaigns. No zombie clowns yet. :p
PC version. 6GB install. $50 :)

Just tried L4D2 campaign mode with three other friends (LAN party!). Dang, it's tough. We got to the fuel-the-car section and just couldn't beat it on hard. We dropped the difficulty to normal and still couldn't beat it (we did get 12 of 13 gallons but having multiple tanks attacking simultaneously was just too much). In fact, I couldn't even tell any difference in the difficulty, which makes me wonder if there's a bug in dropping difficulty by vote mid-game.

Yeah, l4d2 does seem harder than the last game. First campaign I played was Dead Center by myself with bots (Normal), and let me tell you... I was really getting pissed cause it was hard on the mall level. (I died more than once.) Yeah, anyone who's played dead center should know what I'm talking about with the alarm part. Call me crazy, but I swear the bots are not following close like they should be. I blame it on them for not covering me.

Yeah, I was pretty frustrated after playing Dead Center solo. It just seemed like Valve has created gameplay situations that their friendly AI isn't equipped to deal with. You need the AI to move with you closely in those fetch-and-carry situations, but they just trundle along behind you at a distance, leaving you with no way to clear the path ahead.
It's pretty ridiculous, and not expected from a company who has always been happy to take their time to get things right. It seems like they rushed this one; and when I contemplate the size of their marketing budget, it makes me suspect that is exactly what happened -- they probably committed too much money to having the game out at a certain time, and couldn't afford to delay it.
Sure, most other big companies are the same, but up until now Valve had managed to avoid that trap, so it's a bit disappointing.
I'm playing Dark Carnival now, and enjoying it; it's a definite improvement on Dead Center thus far (although I haven't yet reached the finale).
Crossing my fingers for the rest of the game.

I played Dark Carnival as well - It's awesome. Wait till you get to the finale!
That's the one downside that was carried over from the first game - that is, bots are fairly idiotic sometimes and can ruin the experience. Then again, so can human players.

Nope. Picked up the PC version; however, I'm almost wishing I hadn't. The game now crashes during every play session. I've updated every driver imaginable and Direct X, and it's only helped....somewhat. I can at least get through a stage sometimes, but forget about experiencing an entire campaign. I hope they come up with a solid crash-fixing patch before Thanksgiving.

Try rolling back to an older driver? I didn't realize until after I'd uninstalled Fallout 3 in frustration last December that a large part of the game's constant CTDs and BSODs had to do with really shitty video drivers- they were causing me trouble in other games too. I rolled back to a version several iterations earlier and the trouble went away.

i only played the demo and from the beginning it was clear the buddy AI cannot handle those maps/areas unless YOU take care of the bots, not the other way around like it should be. funny since L4D seems to make so much money with so little ppl playing online (compared to sales). Valve even said a higher percentage always plays single - they should notice the bad AI, but then again, a game sold is a game sold, most customers never complain and just buy so who is Valve to argue with their customers. they started out as the "good guys" but over time they discovered the low standards of their customers if they just have ENOUGH customers to compensate for the "old", the "critical" ones. So now they really think gamers are whiners and not their "main" customers anymore. so why deliver the old quality ?
