Let's hope it includes improved bot AI.

Hey Dethtoll,
Gunsmoke will be getting the L4D 1&2 bundle because of the 33% off sale on Steam. You'll have someone local to play low latency games with.
I'd extend an offer too, if I didn't already know that the session would be hampered by high latency due to the obvious geographical differences.

Sweet. I guess I have to buy a real microphone now don't I? Can't be using the (

Left 4 Dead 2 is updating, but it's stuck at 51%.

No Spoilers.
I wasn't impressed with The Passing campaign at all. Well, the second stage was okay, I guess.
Meeting up with the L4D1 survivors felt poorly done and really underwhelming. Without spoiling anything, the hyped death felt completely arbitrary and tacked on -- it makes me wonder if the actor/actress (won't spoil it by giving away the gender, dammit!) simply wasn't going to return, so they decided to kill off the character and have something new to hype.
Definitely a one and done experience for me.

From what I hear, the VA was in prison. It might also explain why said VA wasn't available for Crash Course either.
Personally I liked the campaign. It was kind of a throwback to the L4D1 feel, and they had lots of little things that made it awesome.
I was happy they gave us another scavenge finale- that was a lot of fun in Dead Center. And there were parts of the underground that were actually kinda scary. I wish there had been an "uncommon common" like the other campaigns had to make it more interesting, though. The Fallen Survivor is pretty cool, though, and adds an interesting mechanic.
The only thing I didn't like, and I've felt this since it was announced- why did they hype up the character death? It's obvious Valve knows how to do a player punch as evidenced in HL2 Episode 2- they should have just dropped this at our feet and given us a real whammy, but they didn't.

well that was over quick and pretty boring. but: FREE STUFF !!!! yay.
can't touch hard-rain, best campaign in l4d2. rehash of older maps and the "surprise visitors" act as static turrets, reminded me somehow of the HL2 turret defense sequence. btw, got the "don't touch me" achievement first try. done and forgotten. mutations don't interest me since I don't play multiplayer, only coop and I could have had that before only done by admins and not Valve.
still. FREE STUFF !!!! thanks Valve, just don't sell old tricks as new gamemodes.

Yeah, thanks for letting him know, and when is the sale good until I wonder. I'll have to check.
BTW, deth, this is mostly what I was trying to message you about @ Steam.

MOVE FASTER POKEY I have a decent enough one that served me well on SWAT 4, but if I find a deal I may upgrade to a bit more comfortable one.

We are actually in agreement there! That and Dead Center really turn my crank.
(I'd be partial to the Parish more if I didn't have to redo the bridge like 5 times.)
But I really do love the Passing's Underground, that is a quality level. The sewer tunnel with zombies pouring out of the darkness is some genuinely frightening shit the first time 'round- it's the polar opposite of the not-scary subway tunnels of No Mercy with their light blue fog. I understand why Valve had the fog in the first game but I'm glad they didn't do that for this.

Actually, from what I read, it was planned to have one of them die off, and I don't think that was because of the actor... they're trying to convey a story, and part of the story is that everyone can't survive. So there you go, they killed one off because of story. And if you read and /or listened to what
francis said, you would know that said character pretty much
sacrificed his or her death for the others. Now, I do admit that the way it was done was perhaps too subtle, but you can't expect much for a small campaign and a game that doesn't pride itself on an epic story.
Huge spoiler alert:
What I got from this campaign was that the person who sacrificed his or herself did so in order to save the others' lives, and felt that if anyone should go it would be him. While it is sad the person died, I respect the choice valve made in who would die... but I'll bet you a lot of people will be arguing who should have died instead. :PQuote Posted by dethtoll

I don't quite understand what you mean here. Player punch?
