a few things:
- it IS a brainless skillless shooter
- there are NO tactics involved whatsoever (the AI director makes sure of that)
- i managed to survive the 2 sections of the demo with 3 utter morons while dying with my battle hardened steam friends constantly
Huh? I'd compare it with TF2. Looks shallow but it's surprisingly deep, a lot of potential for strategy and tactics. Doubly so when we get to play Versus mode.

CS with zombies? Seems like Valve is the new Apple. Fanboys eat up any crap they produce.

That's dumb. You're dumb. What a torrid misrepresentation of what looks to be, finally, a multiplayer zombie shooter worth a shit.

others can attest to that I'm no Valve fanboy.
and I stand to it that tactics mean nothing in this game considering the ai director (I don't consider common sense a tactic).
only team - aka - stick together gameplay, don't shoot each other and save specials (pipebomb/molotov) for the right moment. the rest is chaos and that's what I like about it.
and of course I'm talking about the 2 modes available: sp and campaign.
versus mode aint out yet. that should involve some basic tactics.
that's the beauty of the demo and the purpose of the game and in that regard L4d seems to have succeeded on all fronts: get in + BLAM!BLAM!BLAM!
I can see me playing that much more than I ever had CS because it cuts out the illusion of competetive atmosphere completely and concentrates on the fun and chaos. no stupid weapons buying.
don't get me wrong, I like "complicated" games, most of all the mod dystopia with a little steeper learning curve but more rewarding tactical play than AWP vs AK-47 and this game is on the other side of the spectrum (no different movement speeds, classes, only basic weapons) but that's not of concern because it doesn't aim to be anything else, just....
BLAM!BLAM!BLAM!
this is mindless entertainment I can relate to in contrary to.....say....(think popcorn)....GearsOfWar

Anyone else tried Expert online yet?
Damn, it's intense.
It's a fight for every inch of map.
Really very cool, and it amplifies the need for teamwork.
Still gutted there's no versus in the demo mind.

This game, allthough not exactly deep, is FUCKING RAD. I recommend each adn every one of you download and play the demo, then go buy a copy. Or two. Hell, buy as many copies as you can and spread the zombie love.

I don't understand how anybody can say this game has no atmosphere or sense of dread.
The sound of a Witch weeping is enough to instantly get everybody all crouched down and tense. They even whisper over the voice chat, as if it can hear them or something. Being chased by a Tank is
scary in that kind of animalistic fight-or-flight sense and the longer the chase goes on the worse it gets.
Hunters and Smokers are a little more generic, but Boomers make me genuinely nervous.
I don't see it as being brainless or skilless either. Playing on Expert (which is the only level to offer a credible challenge even for a sucks-at-FPSs-chimp like me*) requires a great deal of communication and general awareness. I've managed to drop two team-mates with one shotgun blast because I was stupid about that. :o
*They really need to tighten up the difficulty for the final release. I want to feel like even fighting my way out of the apartment building is life-or-death.
(

I've got a promo code and all, but Steam servers are too busy so I can't play. This experience is making Steam look like Starforce or SecuROM.

Only except not.
