I just finished the Xbox demo with my brother. We went through the split screen "No Mercy" mode once all the way through and then as far as we could get on expert.
The gameplay is there but I can't help but feel that it would be better served with a full game and a full story rather than what appears to be infinitely repeatable scenarios. Do I really want to keep fighting the same packs of zombies all the time even though they may come at different parts of the level (so fresh)? Especially since the zombies are pretty much just the annoyingly fast ones from Half-life 2.
I guess Left 4 Dead is just an online multiplayer game at its heart, whereas I wanted Resident Evil 4 co-op version. Also, the graphics don't look as good as I thought they would considering how old HL2 is now. Although, that is probably just because they have to draw so many zombies. Still, I can tell it is a well-made game and I don't blame anybody for liking it, or even loving it, but it is not quite the game for me.
Maybe I'm wrong and the full game's scenarios would satisfy me, but based on the demo there just wasn't enough of a story to make me care whether any of the characters live or die. I like the way the characters look so I wanted a little more. Actually, now that I think about it, I want what the intro video showed because that was one kick-ass video.

Clearly everyone is playing this because it's the Crysis killer.

You shouldn't be worrying about Zoey dieing or how the infection started. L4D is a multiplayer co-op game built for replayability. It's four friends playing through a stereotypical zombie "movie" where they have to use teamwork to survive. On the other side there's Versus mode where you can take control of the boss infected and try to stop the other survivors.
I just think people see there's only 4 campaigns and think there's no way it can have much replayability. Consider that the levels get progressively longer and more difficult. The not all of the levels are small and enclosed, sometimes you're in wide open areas. Not all of the levels are as linear as the demo levels, there can be obstacles and objectives along the way. When all else fails Versus mode provides the boss infected with that human unpredicatability and intelligent teamwork that the Director AI could never manage.

Just bit the bullet and bought the game. Directly through Steam, fucking EA doesn't need a cut of the profits.

What are the differences between the demo and the full version?

I'm gonna ask for this for Christmas; it's just another $50 I don't have. And I want it so bad.
