Anyone know about the legality of paying FM creators? Composers, authors, etc... often get commissioned for the work they do, but I'm not sure about the legality in this context. Obviously, distributing FMs for money would be a big no-no, but what about just paying FM creators for their time, effort and artistry?

Still a no-no.

I meant, uh, sure, go right ahead, break out the checkbook.

I think that would take the "F" out of FM
Tannar on 8/12/2016 at 20:21
Yes, all joking aside, I can't see any way this would be legal.

What if someone is getting paid via the creation of an FM, but not by any end users. Like if an FM author compensates SlyFoxx for the voice work he contributes to their FM. Can you not do that either?
slavatrumpevitch on 8/12/2016 at 21:04
Yes, clearly if end users were paying, that'd be a no-no. But what if someone said "gee, I really wish [favorite author] would make another mission. I'll scrounge up 10K for him/her so he/she can devote the necessary time and energy." Maybe even allow the financier creative input.
Would that be illegal? It certainly poses practical problems, but would it be legal?

Perhaps you could donate? If youtubers can make money why not map makers.
