Hit upon this a couple of days ago, great for a Level 1 character (and legitimate in the 'doesn't involve stealing' sense); take the silt strider to Suran, and head for the Trader Ralds Orim's shop*. In there he has a glass dagger for sale. Its theoretical value is 4000, but it's in such bad condition (2/300) that he'll sell it to you for a pittance. Get hold of some armourer's hammers from somewhere, fix it up, then sell it on for some nice risk-free profit.
I KNEW there was another one. I remember finding 2 on my first char and recently have only found one. Another 2/300 glass dagger is sold by the Telvanni enchanter in Vivec. Getting that dagger is often the first thing one of my new chars does. :)

Go into the grasslands on the east coast and just gather wickwheat, lot's and lot's of wickwheat, and sell it...
Or better yet, go on an Alchemy frenzy, making 200 restore health potions out of the wickwheat and other suitable ingredients. (I have to admit, I've been on a few compulsive wickwheat gathering sessions myself). Even better if you make and glug down a few fortify intelligence potions first.

Remember the guy who came here a while back who was 'addicted' to fortify health potions? He was wandering around in the wild when he just up and died. Turned out those 2 million potions he chugged wore out, and he was hurt so much that when it did, he died.
I just recently started a new character, Tarros, who's a magic user. It was a hard start, and I'm now level 20 and still having trouble against NPCs. (Word of advice, the Atronach isn't as great as it sounds.) I had to loot the Sword of White Woe, the Redoran and Ghost Gate Treasur..ies...(?) and the suit of glass armor in the Ald'rhun Fighter's Guild.
But if I lock a door with people in the next room, I can blast them with area affect fireballs and they can't get me. FINALLY! A use for the lock spell!

One thing I found was that Nalycara (sp?) of White Haven, the Altmer alchemist in Balmora has a supply of Kwama Cuttle and Alit Hide that replenish every time you leave the barter window and come back. Just buy a lot of that (200+) and keep making 'Cure Poison' potions. You'll level your Alchemy at an amazing pace and make a hefty profit. Kind of a bug, and thus not legitimate, but a funny exploit nonetheless.

Shame on you Ryushi, and your enabler :tsktsk: . If they are locked behind a door and pose no threat to you, why must you slaughter them? If you can't get past them to leave, recall or divine intervention out. [Sorry about the attitude, I've been playing a pacifist. You learn to be creative--and lock a lot of doors

Then this will make you cringe...
You know that dark elf in the entrance to the Balmora mages guild? Well, she never liked me, and every time I ran past her to get to the teleport girl she would say something like "Spit it out or hit the road." Eventually I got fed up, went and got a frenzy humanoid spell, frenzied her, and killed the snotty bitch. Peace at last. :cheeky:

They were guarding treasure! Treasure I needed to buy myself a ship! They died for a good cause, so let's leave it at that.
Playing a mage character is harder than I thought...

Actually, it made me laugh...and I still am laughing as I try to type.

I'm a magic class and make just about 1.5 million in less than 1 hour. Heres how:
Go to Caldera, Mage's Guild, next to the stairs there is a re-inforced door. Go through it. Go up the stairs and take all the master alchemy equipment. Go to the Imperial Shrine in Sadrith Mora, Wolverine Hall and go to the guy in the back. He has 10 Ash Yam and 5 Bloat. Buy the bloat and sell it back to him. From then on, he will sell 10 bloat. Buy the bloat and the ash yam and make potions. Go to Caldera and sell your potions to the creeper in the Ghorak Manor. After you have enough cash, buy about 90 bloat and ash yam and then sell it to the guy in the imperial shrine. From then on, he will sell you 100 ash yam and 100 bloat. Keep buying and making potions and selling them to the creeper. In no time, your alchemy skill will be 100 and your net profit will be just over 100 gold per potion. Then you start doing mass production like me, about 1000 potions. Get the drift?
