Weasel, are you using one of those new LCD flatscreen monitors?
No, I use a CRT. The movies are intended to be viewed in a completely dark room, as stated on my website. Isn't that how you play the game anyway? I guess I should have also specified this: you need to either maxmize the movie or else make sure there's nothing bright visible on your screen--just a tiny bit of white showing from another window on your screen will blind you. For best effect, the only illumination of any kind in the room should be coming from the movie itself (and maybe an LED or two on your computer :p )
Anyway, I might adjust the brightness of some of the scenes slightly, but I'll decide that later. If I do brighten them, it won't be by much.

i've got a CRT and it plays them just fine. I don't have any problems seeing anything in them. The fireplace scene shows up fine too, Garrett is nicely shadowed in the corner, but it's not like i don't know he's there.

I can actually see Garrett behind the fireplace pretty well with bright lights on in my room, as long as no light is reflecting directly off the screen and there's nothing else bright on the screen.

No problems here on my CRT. I SERIOUSLY would check your drivers, folks, or media player, or get a new monitor!

yeah - on my old (6 years) monitor (with a 5200 fx graphics card), i can barely see ANYTHING on those movies! :cheeky: but my other (newer) one (with a 7500 ati graphics card) works great.

I forgot to mention that I tested those movies in the dark on my CRT (of course that is how I play Thief :) )
I guess it comes down to different monitors and video cards (mostly monitors fault). That's why they have a gamma setting in every 3D game. I would bet everyone's setting is different. There's no equivelent to the "Gamma" setting when watching a movie in Windows Media Player, which is probably the issue.l

As people have been saying, Media Player does have brightness and contrast sliders (unless you have a really old version, I suppose).

Thanks, I guess I've been much to busy to look, heh :) I'll remember that when I show someone next.
