That's utterly friggin brilliant.
What camera are you using?

It's really awesome, but I think usage of the sound from the original games might get you in trouble. :erg:
Or would this count as a fan mission? (The mission being creating totally awesome non-profit not-supported by Looking Glass or Eidos interactive Thief lego movies?)

I'm using a still digital camera (a Canon Powershot A40 to be exact, but that's not important). I take 100-200 photos at a time (I think my memory card can hold 300 or 400 at the quality I'm using) and then transfer them to my computer. Unfortunately the camera only has autofocus, so the focus jumps around a bit in some of my scenes. It's only really apparent when the scenes are watched at high resolution (I'm making it at 1600x1200 even though my monitor doesn't even go that high).

I don't know the answer to that question yet (and I haven't tried to find out yet because I don't want to get discouraged). If Eidos decides they don't like it I'll just have to keep the movie to myself. One of the reasons I'm making the movie, though, is to potentially help new people find out about Thief. When it's finished it will have a disclaimer thing in it explaining what it's based on and where the sounds came from.
Does anyone here know much about Machinima? It's movies that people make using video games, like Red vs. Blue made with Halo. They use visuals from the game and add their own audio (acting). What I'm doing seems kinda similar, but I'm using the audio and replacing the visuals.

Hm, well, I really hope Eidos doesn' t try to be bitchy and sees the fun of it. :erg:

I wouldn't worry for one half a second about using original sounds. They won't care, won't notice, whatever. Nothing at all to be concerned about ;)

Yeah, it's not big trouble unless you try to make a profit off this. The sound is superb. Loot sound and all. I just can't put into words how amazing the two parts come together. But the loot sound, just a bit... distant. But I'm sure that's an easy fix. :thumb:

I'm still not sure exactly how I want to deal with the loot sound. I made it quiet in that scene because I didn't want it to be too distracting. The noise is useful when you're playing the game but to me it seems kind of out of place in the movie. Even so, I think it would be sacrilege to leave it out completely.
Not every sound in my movie will be a sound effect, because I couldn't bare to leave out the awesome beats and eery tones that pop up every once in a while in the games.
At the moment, making the loot noise fairly quiet seems like the most appealing option to me, but I'm open to suggestions...

LOL, I'm really impressed with the new sound. I'd say it's just right, especially the way Garrett's footsteps attenuate as he exits to left. Makes me miss Garrett's old pair of stilettos. :(
The cough is brilliantly handled, too. :thumb:

Hey Weasel, I am very inspiried by your great work first off. I haven't seen anything on the net that great in a looong time. Anyway, I was just wondering where in Pennsylvania you are from? I go to Penn State, if your not too far I'd love to check out how you do this. I was surprised to know you use a Canon Powershot A40, that is the same camera I have, and now that I have seen this, I am inspired to get my old Lego sets out and see what I can come up with. God knows I have enough of them! Anyways, keep up the great work, this seems like a great hobby and you are very talented. Peace!
