I had the same problem with my digital camera (taking pics for eBay use) until I discovered the "Macro" feature, which lets it focus in on close-range objects properly. :thumb:

Yeah, I have to use Macro mode for my movie. I first animated the whole fireplace scene without Macro mode enabled and it was a big blur. So I had to redo the whole thing.

Yeah I know, thanks for the tip though. My previous digital camera had a macro mode but my current model doesn't. My brother's new one doesn't either. His previous camera was one of those cheap kids webcam ones - funny how it could take close ups and his new one can't. I looked into it already as soon as he told me. What's with all these cameras coming out with no macro modes, geez.

Just wanna add to the chorus of good job, brilliant work!!
I can't wait to see this project when it is done. This is more entertaining than most movies I have watched simply because it is creativity at its best.

Weasle, I forgot to ask - how did you do the water effect when the water arrow splashes out the torch? It looks identical to the particle effect from the game.

I spent three minutes drawing it in (and the flying arrow) in Photoshop. The water only appears in two or three frames and the arrow appears in five or six.

That is some good animation then!
Heh, just think how hard that kind of thing would have been to do using traditional stop-motion techniques.

Noticed this was getting quite burried... *Shameless bump*
Can't wait to see more, Weasel!

Hey, thanks for the bump!
I've slowed down a bit, but I'm still working on it. I made a new 19 second scene earlier this evening.
I just updated my (
http://home.comcast.net/~weasel47/thief/) site once again. Now the entire dining room scene with audio is downloadable, as well as a very small clip from another hallway scene.
I'm not putting up some of my favorite stuff yet, because I want to keep it under wraps until later.

Oh, absolutely wonderful! Brilliant! I get a huge smile every time I see any of those - love the new sound ones, especially the bit where Garrett picks up the non-loot cup and "clinks" it back down, hehe :thumb: I can't wait to hear more of Benny and the guards. I can't wait for EVERYTHING! So are you doing a whole mission (albeit a short one?) - the whole entrance, stealing, sneaking, conversations, escape, etc?

I gotta give you credit, Weasel. The style in which you're handling these scenes seems like it'd be a great way to film Thief as a major motion picture. Not a constant focus on Garrett, but time spent on the other characters while Garrett sneaks about. Helps lend an appreciation to his skill while also adding depth to the fictional world.
