Thief is out. While I've been arguing with the negative jagoffs in T4A about their poor attitudes (seriously, who writes a 25 paragraph scathing review OF A GAME THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED*) I suspect it's going to be shit. Actually, I suspect that what happened is they were trying to rip off Assassin's Creed, then Dishonored came out halfway through development and showed everyone you could have critical and commercial success with a LookingGlass-style game, so they threw some stuff together to make it look more like Thief and then shoved it out the door. On the other hand, it could be fun as hell. I have no idea.
Regardless, I'm going to post thoughts/screens here once I get a chance to fire it up. Unlike other "let's play" threads I was thinking everyone could chip in screens and thoughts and whatever. Or choke on a boner and die, I don't care.
*The answer is someone so psychotic that 2 separate people from Reddit came over to explain why he was banned from there.

I had that penned in today's schedule for in between fixing registrations display on my project and lunch.
I'm down for sharing, I've got the game preloaded on Steam but it doesn't unlock for us Euros until Friday. I'd remained apathetically optimistic about the game until they announced contextual jumping, that was the first real bleep on my radar, but at nineteen quid I doubt it'll fall so short as to give me buyer's remorse. The Thief Police down below, on the other hand, seem to be creaming their pants over the negative reviews.
So go on, American TTLG, tell the rest of us what we should prioritize for the weekend - Thief or drinking?

Oh damn, I forgot about the "no oceans" shit. I'll try to post some screens and general impressions, when I have time (I won't really get to dig into it much until Thursday, in all likelihood) but I'll do my best to avoid any sort of narrative spoilers.
Also, why prioritize? Have some people over and do both.

Yeah I'll be playing it come friday as well.
You can still get it for £20 from (
http://www.simplycdkeys.com/steam/thief-4?awc=5443_1373801118_264956a6359c5ba9698ba4aade04a9a2) here. Enter the coupon code "5OFFTHIEF" to knock another £5 off the price.
Also, for God's sake stop calling it Thiaf. The voices of the fans was
heard on that issue, and the title was changed pretty much right away. Continuing to harp on about it just makes you look like a dumbass who can't let things go.
Jason Moyer on 25/2/2014 at 12:56
I refer to it as Thiaf because it makes me laugh, hopefully everyone here knows I'm not someone who thinks all gaming died when the Germans invaded Poland and delayed the original STALKER by 75 years.
Edit: YES I KNOW GSC AREN'T POLISH, I'M AMERICAN AND ANYTHING EAST OF THE RHINE LOOKS THE SAME TO ME. EXCEPT FOR THOSE SNOWY PLACES WITH FJORDS AND VIKINGS.

I don't know if I'd call it absolute shit exactly. From what I've seen of it (which admittedly isn't all that much), I'd say it's a mediocre game, occasionally getting halfway decent. It's got some good qualities in there lurking behind the scenes, a few really clever bits and pieces that point towards what could've been an excellent entry in the series. But the bad parts pop in consistently enough to serve as a reminder that it'll probably never live up to its own potential.
I don't want to judge a game based solely off a 15 minute stream, cuz anyone with an ounce of brains knows that watching someone play a game and playing it yourself are two entirely different experiences. But with that in mind, what I saw in that 15 minutes didn't exactly leap out at me and make me want to rush out and download it off Steam the moment it goes live. It just looked...I dunno...kinda bland. It was like Thief without the tension, Dishonored without the fun. It was unimpressive enough to make me want to wait until saner minds get some hands-on time with it and offer up their opinion before I commit to it myself.
So guinea pig away, Moyer.

Oh I see. Yeah it's hilarious. As far as internet jokes go it's right up there with putting exclamation points and 1's at the end of a sentence.
Sorry Jason, don't mean to take it out on you. It's just that it's been a long development cycle and I've had it up to
here with these "jokes" like putting Nu in front of things that everyone keeps posting as if they just thought of THE FUNNIEST THING.
